Ocracer Added a reply to e*thirteen's Sidekick Hub: Impressions & Discussion
9/23/2024 10:59am This is rad... I notice kickback on braking bumps and I've been looking at the Ochain for some time but waiting to get a new bike. This is a good option.

9/23/2024 10:57am e*thirteen's new Sidekick Hub is here, and and we had the opportunity to spend a day riding it back-to-back with a regular hub to see if its promises of eliminating pedal kickback present significant performance benefits on the trail. The initial benefits were quite intriguing, with a noticeable uptick in calmness through compressions that kept my bike more settled and composed. There is also minimal drag due to the pawls being disengaged while coasting, which makes for a way higher rolling speed. I didn't notice a shocking change in feedback through my feet, but it did feel like the shock...

10/23/2023 1:10pm A new take on front suspension tech I am experimenting with which could be a simple bolt on conversion. Specs: Fox 36 140mm travel with custom one piece Upright/fork crown. Girder fork type link suspension with Fox DPS shock giving 53mm travel. 193mm total travel. This system gives the front wheel two different wheelpaths....the more vertical of the Telefork and a more rearwards wheelpath of the Link suspension....each seperately tunable. A more dynamic range of change for offset and trail. This adds a third level of suspension compliance ( first being the tire...then the Telefork..then the link suspension ). I...

So I designed this thing, a 205-220mm travel (currently at 215mm) Downhill bike. I've been riding it almost everyday since I was able to tune the suspension to my liking (ditched the harsh EXT for an X2). It performs very nicely as a downhill bike going down yet still climbs like any other efficient enduro bike can. Sure, enduro bikes have become more capable and are creeping up to downhill travel numbers but why don't bike companies just go all the way. They keep teasing us with slight increments every year. There must be a market for such bikes...
