Vegas Jekyll Rider Liked a product review Great Wheels Great Price

2/23/2015 8:37pm
This summer i picked up an early season Cannondale Jekyll 4. I bought this low end model because it came with the basic frame and fork set up I wanted but then left me freedom to build the rest the way I wanted it. One of those changes that I made right out of the gate was to install the new Atomlab Suprelite 650b wheels. Atomlab components have always been durable and I was looking for a wheel set that would perform over the long haul in the Las Vegas dust, ledges, and drops that constitute the majority of my...

Proof that if you hold out long enough everything eventually goes full CYCLE, well except for gearboxes... PS: I will continue to wear my hydration pack since it carries a lot more than water, and is VITAL for building "interesting, sustainable trails." PSS: The feed on Team Robot concerning IMBA was spot on! PSSS: I invented the term ProCore. True Story

MTB R&D Added a reply to Prototype, unique and random mountain bikes

Prototypes? Let's head out to the garage... This is a Morewood Split Pivot prototype. It would later get some carbon stays and other tweaks to become the Sukuma. Fabian Cousine raced one at the Meagavalanche at Reunion Island. This one was shown at Interbike as a complete bike. Patrick helped build it the day before. This is the prototype...

I rode all those bikes. The first one also had a linkage. The second got a repaint to the red. The third bike was Mick's. Sweet rigs!

Then it's a good thing it's not your bike to worry about But yeah, I have dealt with the workshop manager at Morewood on numerous occasions and only had great service. Spare parts to me overnight (Yes, I live in South Africa, so it's pretty convenient). In fact for around $120 the factory will replace all the bearings, check alignment, check welds, re-powdercoat and decal any old Morewood. Bearings alone on my Makulu cost me about $70 to do myself. So yeah once again, that's pretty good service. How many other brands in the US will do...

Morewoodkid knows Patrick better than most. He worked at Morewood with Patrick, and his company distributed the brand in South Africa. Yes, things may not have panned out as everyone had hoped. But it doesn't make the bikes any less awesome. Go look at my bike checks and you'll see that all 4 of my Morewoods are from when Patrick was still there. I stand to be corrected but to my knowledge, this very one was designed and built by Patrick himself. And I have spoken to Patrick about it, asking advice on what travel to run on it. As...

corytepper.com Liked a product review Tested: Atomlab DHR SL 650B Wheelset

Review by Cory Tepper // Photos by Emily Peterson and Cory Tepper As a long time fan of Atomlab I was quite stoked to see new product rolling out after some bumpy years of management changes and reduced industry presence. As a go-to rim for DH and DJ bikes the Pimplite has been in my stable for years and whilst indestructible she is not a light horse. Well, my favorite workhorse hit the gym, shed some grams and picked up an “SL” tattoo. Pulling these wheels out of the box was rad. They are light, loud and flashy, and I...

Looking good on the track... The 4x course is banked beautifully and runs under the bob sled track. The slopestyle course is sick! Multiple lines with about 3 passes accross the mountain. We are expecting about 30,000 spectator's this weekend. Here is a map of the Park: http://www.bikepark-winterberg.de/de/downloads/Bike%20Park_Flyer%202009… I will try and update the results on the Yeti team...I am...

MTB R&D Started a new thread Silent or LOUD Hubs?

Building up a new DS/play bike. I am using the 5 spd. Assembly Industries Hub and it comes in "silent" and "full-scale". According to their website... "the “super silent” and the “full-scale” version. The silent one sounds just like “ssssssss” and the loud full-scale free wheel almost shouts out with a “dang, dang!!!”" I have always used loud...

I had just received the last Morewood enduro prototype equiped with the best parts; a very competitive bike. The practice runs went very well and without any troubles.
