Always had great luck with PF on my Norcos while using Wheels BBs, for 30mm spindles, as the bearing itself is the BB. The outer bearing race has a lip that presses into the frame and allows the bearings to be significantly larger thus allowing it to take much greater loads. No creaks ever... Ive transferred the BB to multiple frames. When the stock Sram dub BB goes in my Optic (soon) it'll be replaced with a Wheels.

Nice upgrades on the fork and wheels! (bar too) I feel the C3 with those and maybe cranks is the best value of the 3 builds (but my personal least favourite colour). Would have done the same if I wasn't so mullet curious and waiting on a Patrol.

MikeyOrange Added a comment about press release After Months of Speculation, Norco's New 2022 Range Has Arrived

It's not vaporware... my LBS had an XL C1 for one of shop employees before launch. It came with the same DT carbon wheels. Apparently, only the XLs and Larges were available at launch, not sure of the numbers, but mediums should be shipping in the next 2-3 weeks according to Norco. Also of note, a certain colourful bike website had an initial ride report and it was quite positive. Like Vital, they said they haven't had enough time with it yet.

Range frame is $100 less canadian than a Dreadnought with a factory DHX2 vs performance elite X2. Builds wise, there is no direct comparison for them; the C1 is pretty blingy with the Onyx/WAO wheels, factory level fork, X01 (GX cassette though) and carbon Deity bar. The Range C2 is probably closer in spec to the Dreadnought XT, and is $600 cdn cheaper.

Forbidden's head designer used to work at Norco. There are some significant differences in the Range vs the Dreadnought/Druid. Pivot placements, particularly the concentric BB pivot. I would love to see a comparison test.

That alloy makes the new straight tube frame design actually look amazing. Want one.

Scroll down the page a bit more and you will see where Transition says you can run a 62.5mm stroke shock to achieve 150mm (140mm is stock)

Not sure if you are hell-bent on getting an alloy frame, but the new Scout will run a 150mm rear and 160mm fork.

Ah, yes... perhaps when the next "value" test is done a new one will be available 😉 It would have been nice to hear if Vital thought the extra $500 was worth it over the $2000? And at what pricepoint do you really think there's marginal returns?

Yeah, brakejack is real, but it's more due to the user not letting up on the brake before the suspension, which has squated, is unweighted usually over a large obstacle. I haven't really experienced any dramatic brakejacking since my Proflex Beast (young and didn't pay enough attention to my braking) and I've had a few single pivots since.

MikeyOrange Added a comment about bike check Custom Norco Sight with Ohlins

1/26/2021 4:25pm
Yeah, it may be very tight, but it could work... defintely not on a small but more likely on a large and most likely on an XL. Norco moves the pivot placement with the frame to gain longer CS length betweensizes, and they have bit more clearance as a result.
