for Fox Sake... the thing that was potentially cool about 27+ was that you could use existing 29er products that we already have in the garage! I thought for once we were going to be able to sneak a cool thing in under the door. Apparently not. FWIW, you don't need this fork, a 27.5x3.0" tire will fit a standard Fox 34 29er fork just fine. Google for evidence.

Riding with just a bottle and equipment stuffed in my jersey pockets is fun and I do it a few days each summer, but it doesn't really cut it for longer mountain rides when the weather might change quickly or somebody needs a bike part. You lost me at "steel rotor bolts," that's when I knew it wasn't serious. I think it's a cool build. I would install a chainguide for insurance. Foam Grip Failure isn't likely going to end a run, but wrapping your chain around that pretty Ohlins shock sure will. And speaking from experience, carbon saddle rails are not long for the world on a mountainbike, that's a weird spec. But she's got it where it counts: Good tires, good suspension, let 'er rip!

Yeah, that Public Enemy was the first CD that I ever bought. AND. People can whine and moan about companies using the Horst Link (Designed by a gentleman named Horst Leitner of AMP research, not a gentleman named Specialized.) but the patent is up and it's fair game on a fairly good suspension platform. I mean, what are you going to do? No matter how you dress it up, a lot of people consider a single pivot bike low tech and inferior to other designs, no matter what evidence is presented to the contrary. Going to a horst link is a great move for both marketing and braking performance, if nothing else. The bikes look sick! Congrats TR.

Pretty confident for race day... I have never had 100% chain retention with SRAM or Shimano setups using clutch derailleurs with the "correct" 1x chainrings. Granted, I've only lost the chain maybe once or twice without a top guide, but that's too many times. Martin Maes might agree. It probably depends quite a bit on suspension design?

Very nice! I am a fan of the svelte XC saddle although after a mild get-off yesterday when i took the nose of my SLR in my inner thigh I was reminded you definitely pay to play. Cool bike!

People are stoked on it because Gwin didn't give up once he flatted. He continued to push as if he were still racing for something knowing that his chances of getting any points were very low. If he had throttled back and cruised like most racers would/do, no one would care. His determination and the fact he held it together are why people are impressed.
