Jdasco Added a reply to Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling?

10/20/2020 2:40pm
The analogy between Formula1 and DH is interesting because a lot of common sportscars benefit from the developments and engineering that went into F1 and other top-level motorsports. I mean, Mercedes does only produce only a dozen of F1 power units per year yet puts hundreds of millions into it. I don't mind low sales for DH bikes if they...

Gorgeous design! I see you brazed everything, what was the choice you made over welding? I'm about to dip my toes in to frame building so looking forward to hearing from your experience! Again: looks so rad!! Enjoy your very own bike well!

Jdasco Added a comment about feature TRAIL BIKE MULLET EXPERIMENT - Vital Gear Show

The key when putting a smaller wheel at the back of a 29er is bb height, which can be maintained with offset bushings and/or longer shock eye to eye. I did just that with a canyon 29 bike as a fun experiment. 5mm of shock eye to eye was all it took to get the bb and all the angles back to normal. Setup = 27.5x2.5 at the back, no plus tire needed 29 in front of a 27.5 is another story though, even with -2cm of travel it is still higher overall then previously and mess up with st...

On a complete different note, is there a review of the Norco range 29 that is due to come alongside this one? I'm very interested with this bike, how does it ride?? Why this bike? Can't also wait for your review about XT and SLX! Cheers!!

No 27.2 size is a problem considering most hardtails use this size to allow more flex and comfort. But they're other options

I struggle to understand the corelation you're making with short CS's, weight distribution on downhills and seat-angle prevalence. Steeper SA is definitely helping A LOT when climbing and this I why I went for the "forward offset seatpost idea" to compensate for crappy geometries. But there is another great allied on your quest to great seated position when climbing, and...

My current bike has a 460mm reach, wich is good enough for me considering I'm 178cm, but the SA is 74. Wich feels slack at 30% sag on steep climbs, even with my saddle slammed forward (it helped though). Guess it's what you get when suddenly "reach" is raging all over the internet (I'd say between 2014-2017) and any bike...

Hi Primoz, I completely agree with you about aluminum, I even consider steel as a frame material for my next rig! But I'm not sure that increasing reach alone w/o increasing CS lenght does put your weight forward. I would quite think the opposite indeed, since the bottom half of your body (the heaviest part of it) is still quite...

Above all, the mtb industry must solve the issue of flats! A few cues: - pool noodles are not the answer, they belong to swimming pools, not bicycle tires. It's the equivalent of giving carbon legs to an asthmatic runner. - 1.6kg tires ARE NOT a solution. - The tire/rim interface has never really been questioned for decades, since most...

Jdasco Added a comment about feature Danny Hart's Permanent Data Acquisition System

5/31/2018 11:43pm
There is no doping to be found here. It's just data mining, it does not actively enhance the bike's performances during a said run. It's like powermeters that are used for road racing, except this one does not even show what it records to the rider.

Same here too. I'm 1,8m tall (5'9). I've been riding a Banshee Spitfire 2015 and 2017 (27,5) for three years and recently added a 29er xc/marathon from Canyon. It was my first try ever at a 29er and it was an eye-opening experience. Like having your first adult bike. The grip and traction especially in the front wheel when braking...

Jdasco Added a reply to What's Your Opinion on Downhill in the Olympics?

1/16/2016 12:40pm
In my opinion it is the most direct way to bring DH to the masses. It's so frustrating when you have to explain from the ground what DH is, because most people don't have a single clue of what it means. Sometimes one fella has seen Kelly's backflip over the canyon in a facebook video and than he thinks you're...
