10/24/2025 1:31pm Kinda my point. We've all read reviews where the tester sets their goods up way outta spec (Say 5-10psi+) and then little to no compression damping, people of all sizes too. I know it ain't 'correct', but I've been turning the comp knob to 2 or 3 from open and then setting sag. It's ended up near factory psi recommendations...

Since we are all on the suspension side, Diaz just released a "lower runt" https://diazsuspensiondesign.com/the-lower-runt I don't how it works, if its similar to what others said above or what, but I'd assume it works good since every Runt upper I've added has been a nice addition to the forks I've had in past (36, Pike).

Sorry if I'm now spamming this, but anyone reading this thread should be interested to know Tony Foales book MOTORCYCLE HANDLING AND CHASSIS DESIGN: the art and science is back in print after 20 years, and in that time I don't think I've found a better reference book on the topic! Get it now so you don't need to wait decades like I have to buy a copy! I've got a physical copy of the original 80's book but the second edition added a TON of excellent information that is still highly relevant https://a.co/d/bmfsZFI

Concern I have with every coil spring backed IFP damper is how much effect the spring weight adds to the damper. For average/greater than average weight folx likely little but for slight folx I'd think the spring weight would need to be a consideration in the tuning profile in addition to any porting and shim stack changes.

10/14/2025 8:01am I've used the phenolic caliper piston kits from Exnavi (found on Amazon/ALi) without issues, and indeed they improved brake feel. Less retraction than the ceramic pistons, leading to a sharper bite point, and importantly, no wandering bite point. I did try the Ti MC pistons but those were bad. Undersized which allowed the piston to rock and lose seal, generally...

A local ski hill here ran for a bit, even bringing a contractor to build it out and then relying on mostly a team of volunteers to maintain it. The riders were 100% invested in keeping it going.
