This is a very very hard thing to measure. Unless one bike has some huge mechanical advantage than the other. Small frame geometry adjustments, a bit lighter and newer components like brakes and shifters won't do much to really increase one's speed. Maybe a fraction which is important when it comes to pro elite athletes during racing.

Rider 90%(physical/mental), bike 9%, trail conditions 1%. Getting on a new bike most always makes me "feel" 102% faster once its set up to my liking.

I think the camera generally tends to tame it down, but they are definitely hitting 40mph in a few spots there. We have a local trail where we regularly hit the 35-40mph range and it looks similar on video (ex: http://www.pinkbike.com/video/398548/). Would love to see the strava segment for this luge track

Sorta surprised VitalMTB would promote this. Video quality aside, this guy needs to ride *on* the trail. http://cotamtb.com/trails/trail-love-3/ "tread on trail" for a reason at this sensitive location.
