dustboy Started a new thread What do you do with a tired old frame?
8/14/2014 2:08pm If you've been riding long enough, you've probably had the problem of what to do with an old frame. Maybe it's cracked, or bent, or just obsolete. But you can't just kick an old friend to the curb. I have this old Santa Cruz Super 8 that was well used and passed down to me by a good friend, I...

dustboy Added a reply to Flats On Your Trail Bike?
6/3/2014 6:59am Bob, welcome back! -Nobody uses toe clips anymore. -Flats means grippy flat pedals. -Trials riders can bunnyhop up a loading dock on flats, it's all how you manipulate the bike. -It's all a matter of what you're comfortable with. In super techy downhills, being clipped in is a scary thing. In fast bumpy downhills, without clips your feet can rattle...

5/31/2014 8:12am In 5 years, it will be affordable. In 10 years, every bike sold in a bike shop will have it. A little competition from SRAM will help this along in a big way.

dustboy Added a comment about feature New Spot for Red Bull Rampage 2014?
4/5/2014 9:32pm Agreed, Rampage is due for a new site. If Berrecloth and McCaul like it, then I want to see it. But photographers could climb all over the old site, this looks treacherous for those without magic wheels and/or helicopter. Red Bull knows the money comes from the media, not rider stoke. Then again, maybe the media will film the whole thing with quadcopters. It's a brave new world MFers.

dustboy Added a comment about feature MTB Bucket List, 5 Places to Ride at Least Once in Your Life According to Michael Browne
3/3/2014 11:48am That problem is related to two bigger problems which are: 1) too many people, and 2) too many litigious people. Even if a great trail is built legally here, buzz gets around and every storm trooper with a Monster Energy tee shirt comes to ride it. Then a storm trooper comes a little short on a gap jump and everybody gets shut out while the attorneys wring the landowner for every dime on their liability policy.

3/3/2014 11:31am Only problem with California is that about 98.6% of the great trails are illegal ones. (See: Santa Cruz)
