When that X2 *hits the bed and needs a full rebuild or warranty, pull the spacers out to make it 65mm stroke. No problems with clearance, and you get a little more usable stroke before the bottom out bumper kicks in. Or even better, put a coil on there @ 65mm stroke. Evil

I have been running it long since I first put one together back in August.

Clean build and appreciate all the notes on each part. Here are my thoughts not that they matter.

- Polish on the cranks is amazing, be very curious to know how they did that. Takes probably to coolest component in MTB and makes them look even better.

- Always like the idea of the Zipp 3Zero wheels but they have one of the lowest rider and bike weight limits on any carbon mtb wheel and I cant even get close. But I'm sure they feel cool.

- It's funny you say that about the clutch on the GX AXS derailleur because I've heard the opposite from industry riders saying they can't fun the GX AXS derailleur because the clutch is noticable weaker. I've always just has XX1 because it's available to me but I'd be curious to know what SRAM says.

- Some gloss green to match and white decals on the fork and shock would be really cool.

- Overall very cool build.

yeah the cranks look so sweet. kinda crazy how much they've been through, and the industrial polisher makes them look 2x better than new haha.

yeah the zipp wheels are funny, they seem like they would explode into peices, but i just passed my 2nd year of riding them (september) and i can tell you with full assurance that they are the strongest wheel i have ever owned. not to mention the 6 reserve wheels i have broken....yes, i said six....yes 6 of them. also wioth the zipps; i only run an xc cush core in the rear, whereas the reserves i had fullsize front and rear with dh casing maxxis tires...eesh and they still broke

 

yeah right? dude the sram clutches are a weakpoint for sure! especially with these crazy chain-growth bikes they just tear through the clutch till its almost in effective. dang! i guess its still better than rebuilding the shimano ones every few months to keep them from sticking haha

 

yeah i dont know about decals. ive always been allergic to them. eww. i like the natural beauty of the color matched components hahaha

What does "polished caps " mean when describing a Fox fork?
Did you polish it yourself - if so how? I fancy changing the blue details to gold Cerakote. Let me know

Awhhhhh... Okay okay fine fine... You need to mix a cap full of drain-o (from home depot) in a tub and mix it with water until it's warm & dissolved. (ot HAS to be the draino with the skull and crossbones on it) 

 

Leave the parts in there for a few minutes, 5 at most. Pull them out and clean off with water and repeat the dunk if needed... 

Immediately when you're done-you need to polish ONLY with mothers mag/aluminum polish. If you do it right- you'll get a nice shine!

 

And remember, Don't tell anyone!!
