6/1/2021 9:15am Not sure if you are hell-bent on getting an alloy frame, but the new Scout will run a 150mm rear and 160mm fork.

5/31/2021 9:36am Looks great but for the rotor adapters and hardware, and inserts seem like overkill for one so easily moved to complain. A debadged Mezzer Pro, black dropper, and black tires would highlight the SLS and spokes/hubs. Cheers

4/23/2021 12:51pm But Freerider Contact was the best fit for narrow-medium bony feet. Is the relatively baggy Freerider Pro still the best replacement? Does the shank in Trailcross make it as stiff as Pro, presuming one maintains a mid-pedal foot position? So many lumpy toeboxes

4/16/2021 12:20pm As I understand it as far back as yesterday evening, e38 stanchions have the same internal dimensions as new 36. E38 160mm has four spacers, according to setup guide, but same travel 36 has one...I bet you could eek a bit more out of it by pulling spacers, one at a time--extra volume! Sounds like ankle may discourage hucks to flat anyway. Spring rate calculator has you right on at 27% sag, even with 60% rear weight bias. Thanks for details, as I'm keen on dedicated MX setups and still using last gen air suspenders. Happy trails

4/15/2021 8:03pm Thanks. May we slow down and start from the start? You're 190 lbs kitted? Coil is 400 lbs as pictured, stock for a size medium? Psi in fork?--it's E-specific; does that mean it has different spring rates than a regular 38, to account for the extra twenty or so pounds of bike weight? # of volume spacers? Is the CSU different from a regular 38? Normally I wouldn't inquire, but your pace seems to warrant....obviously Marin's chassis supports it.

4/15/2021 3:26pm Dumbability--five stars. McClendon is smooth, but it beggars belief that stock wheels went untouched during review period. Do these really need a wide range cassette with all that pedal assist? Can I get an Alpine Trail with this spec? Will Sean publish his exact suspension setup?--fun review; more dumb pleez

Primoz Liked a reply to forum topic What's with high pivots?
4/12/2021 7:32pm Maybe a bit late, but still. faul made most of the points that I'll sort of reiterate, but I do think it's better to have two similar opinions from different people than just one. (Rear) wheel diameter is part of the issue when it comes to pivot height. With 26" bikes and older geometries (higher BBs) a standard suspension layout was still somewhat 'rearward'. That is because the rear axle was below the BB and the pivot a bit higher than the BB. The pivot was nevertheless close to the BB, so there wasn't much pedal kickback due to chainstay...

Wouldn't one also need the actual angle and length of the lower part of the 'tube' as well as that of upper? Doesn't seem that easy to calculate...Based on wheelbase, seat tube length and offset, the dimensions of my current rides, and a probable upper STA of 65, I'd take a Medium in this or nothing. I'm 6', short torso. It's within Kona's sizing recommendations

He's 6' 2". Weird bike has same reach as V1 weird bike, 470mm. According to a build check, he was trying to duplicate the handling of his trail bike with a 430mm reach and 50mm stem. V3 has a slightly shorter reach+ at 470mm + 0mm stem. To weight front he just bends elbows, stands a little. It's 1340mm wheelbase and full 29", but when he's sitting with legs enfolded, it looks like a BMX. Defo a geo worth copying, if it's not already a copy. Summum is in the vicinity, but without the desired FC:RC. Things are easier when...

Ceecee Added a comment about feature Single Crown vs Dual Crown Fork: Which One is the Best for Enduro?
9/28/2020 10:21pm Compared to the 2018 36 Grip 2 Luftkappe that preceded it, Mezzer is much stouter at a similar weight. Air spring allows one to tune the spring rate. I run the main on the soft side for my weight and the secondary on the firm side. This makes for a plush topstroke with additional midstroke support, similar to the modified 36, but with easier setup. Seems like the Mezzer can be pumped deeper to increase jump heights, with better control from stiffer chassis. It's no wonder the 38 VVC had to appear--I'm not that curious and would probably just get...

7/7/2020 8:31am Thanks. I'm always keen to know the frame size preferences of riders I like, and shouldn't be surprised a BMXer leans toward a smaller size. Though it's easier to learn that he doesn't swim or eat fish than to learn his height--to see how much he flaunts manufacturer sizing suggestions. Nice understated buildout you've got there.
