Oooh gotcha, yeah, that shouldn't happen on a healthy brake.

Well... you say "what puzzles me is why the bite point actually moves closer to the bar when you adjust it". That's what I'm trying to explain.

Have a look at what happens to the different parts of the T3 lever when you adjust the bite point screw. When you turn it out, you see the cam moving backwards/out as well. This moves the MC further out. Now have a look at what happens when you adjust the reach on the lever. The cam remains in the same spot, but the lever moves in relation to the cam. That's how it adjusts the point where you feel the lever engaging relative to the bar. It's quite a nifty design.

No, it can't have an effect on piston position, as the bite point adjust does not pressurize the system. And the bite point adjust most definitely changes the point at which the lever sits when the pads hit the rotor on Hope brakes; that's what adjusting the position of the MC does. Turning the adjuster out, means the MC and thus the lever can travel further before the timing port is reached and the system is pressurized. But all it does is just add dead stroke. You're right that on Hope brakes it also changes where the lever sits when...

Hopes open bath bleed method is the opposite of messy. You run the hose out of the caliper into a catch container and you aren't handling syringes that end up covered in brake fluid. Wish more brands worked this way.

"This model has no bite point adjustment like on Hope’s Tech 3 levers (which effectively changes where the pads sit in relation to the rotor)" Come on man, don't spread this nonsense around. Distance between pads is entirely determined by the caliper piston seals. Bite point adjust merely adjusts the location of the master cylinder relative to the timing port in the lever.

I also owned the previous Capra and while it pedaled ok, it was never a pleasure on big climbs nor did it carry much speed in the flat (I felt). The Yeti SB 5.5 pedals better upbhill and carris more speed when the terrain does not only point downhill. It might mostly be attributed to the 29er wheels though. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the Capra, but for the more mellow trails around the house that I have to pedal up myself I changed to the Yeti now. Thoughts?
