7/16/2024 9:03am I dont think that longer chain stays for longer reaches necessarily makes the bikes handle similar proportionately. Your feet are still in the same spot in relation to the rear wheel no matter how tall you are. So you are helping the overall front to back balance of the bike but it will still feel differently than a smaller size...

7/9/2024 9:24am Alpinestars has them all in the M10 moto helmet. Dak was running the visor extension and 100% rolloffs which are known to be the best, wonder if it was more water splashing up into the helmet and coming down into the goggles. Certainly tricky trying to nail vision for DH, moto rarely has standing water that isnt already mud but...

7/9/2024 9:14am They redesigned their M10 this year so maybe just rather have the guys in the latest and greatest. Their DH Missle helmet hasn't changed in years, for a while it wasn't even for sale but looks like they have some new colors and such now. Ive held and worn almost all the DH helmets and the FOX RPC blows them...

7/3/2024 7:43am Guys this Genie shock isn't really that revolutionary, its a big air can 3/4 of the travel and a tiny air can the last 1/4 of travel. Its a novel idea and will give you good bottoming resistance without affecting as much of the stroke as traditional volume spacers do but its certainly going to have a feel that I...

7/2/2024 11:40am Okay I hate proprietary stuff as much as the next guy but this shock is not proprietary, its a normal stroke and eye to eye shock you can put any other shock in its place. If you were going to say anything is proprietary on this bike its the drivetrain more than the shock, it can only be replaced with...

7/2/2024 5:23am Doesnt look like a whole lot gained over my 22 Evo. I always liked the offset frame strut look on the stumpys. So no more EVO, and just basically speccing different build kits for what you are wanting out of the bike?

6/19/2024 8:43am Our local trash convenience sites have metal scrap dumpsters couldn't be any easier to get rid of aluminum/steel. If you had a big enough pile of aluminum frames you could take to an actual scrapyard and get a few bucks.

6/19/2024 5:29am The advantage of radial mounted masters on motorcycles is better lever feel, this is only for stuff on the street and road racing where they can tell the difference in that very very edge of traction feel on the lever. Lever is pushing directly on the piston vs turning 90 degrees through another lever. I think in dirt you just...

6/19/2024 5:11am Carbon will never be a realistic "recyclable" material, aluminum and steel are much more recyclable. Most aluminum and steel is close to 75% recycled because its easy and cheap. And no we wont figure out how to make it reasonable to recycle carbon, if we haven't done that with plastic its not going to happen with carbon.

6/18/2024 10:05am I love my Stumpy EVO I have a Zeb on it and I switch between a deluxe air and deluxe coil depending if I'm going to do some lift served stuff for a whole weekend. The head angle and chain stay adjustments actually make a huge difference, that along with tires this thing works awesome for me from local XC...

6/18/2024 8:26am Sort of the nature of the beast, they really try to get back to racing as soon as they can because if you have a string of injuries with not much results you are sort of sent to obscurity pretty quickly and left without a ride when you contract is up.

austin-NC Added a reply to "Drop Worst Result" Format Racing - Any Math Nerds in here?
6/14/2024 5:23am Like you said its great for small series and amateur stuff, all the moto races I do the series has a drop system but its because we all cant make every race. For a world class series it doesn't makes sense. The argument that it could help teams that cant afford to go to every race is not really true...

6/12/2024 9:29am As much as id love to see a world cup at Windrock it will never happen, logistically it would be nightmare. Nowhere to stay within probably an hour until you get to Knoxville, and the closest airport is pretty damn small. Snowshoe is much more remote but has its own infrastructure as its basically a little town with tons of...

6/11/2024 5:59am Finn and Loic talked about the team and Jordan and how good their dynamic is and having two guys to constantly compete against makes them all push and be better on Wyn TV last weekend. Jordan was on the prototype frame last weekend but not the electronic stuff, im sure him and the team thinks its best for him to...
austin-NC Added a reply to You win the Bazillion dollar lottery, what do you do MTB related?
5/30/2024 7:56am Well if you win a billion dollars you'd bring home about 600 million of it. I think some of you will have to win the lottery a couple times to buy a world class ski resort and build trails on it and also run a racing series and some world cup teams that money will go quicker than you could...

5/23/2024 8:13am I think the issue is with lack of feeder series, which at least in the US seems to be growing. I just dont think the best way to get to the top of the sport is to try to qualify for the premier elite class for 5 years until you are good enough to qualify. You could have qualifiers. For...

5/23/2024 7:13am The semis were a way to get the final field down to 30 riders instead of 60 without pissing everyone off the first year, now everyone hates semis so those will be easy to get rid of next year. If they can fit in a semi run for 60 riders they can fit in an LCQ for the riders that...

5/23/2024 6:06am I know its probably an unpopular opinion because its easy to say every one should be able to race. But it is pretty wild that you have guys like Loic, Pierron, Brosnan, etc. All using the same track, lifts, pits, and resources as realistically 50-80 guys that probably have a very small chance of even making semis. Also yes its...

5/21/2024 8:30am Yeah the protected rider thing I gave some thought too as well. Part of me wants no protected riders but with weather and mechanicals, I think you need protected riders. Compared to Supercross where you have two qualifying sessions and only needing one hot lap if they have a mechanical they will still be able to qualify. The cream will...
