Andrextr Started a new thread [VIDEO] Shock dyno at FOX Service center
10/7/2019 2:37pm Hello guys, It's been a while since my last post in the forum. But for those who like suspension and mechanics I think you would like to see some shock testing action with a dyno bench on a local Fox Service Center.
Cheers!

Andrextr Started a new thread [Video] How to CORRECTLY setup rebound damping
11/22/2017 11:50am Hello guys! Just want to share a new episode. Probably the most important one. I found that many riders out there have a completely "wrong" rebound setting on the rear shocks. In this video I will explain how to correctly tune your rebound damping for achieve a great stability & traction balance. To the best of my knowledge this is...

Andrextr Started a new thread [Video] Rebound Speed vs Suspension Performance
4/11/2017 1:26pm Hello guys, I would like to share my newest video where it is discussed in deep detail, and using dynamic simulations, the effect of rebound speed and suspension performance.
I hope you find this interesting. All the best, André

Pedal kickback is mostly felt when the suspension compresses during pedaling on bigger cogs on the rear, and at slow speeds (rocky climbs are a good example). On small rear cogs and fast speeds the kickback is hard to feel. At higher speeds the pedals not always rotate backward, instead, the wheel rotates forward. Sometimes this is felt on smooth drops where the bike seems to suddently accelarates forward after the landing. Bye

Yes, the shock is a 210 x 50mm but actually it's a 190mm shock with a 70mm shaft. So you are right, this might cause confusion to some people since the last 20mm of the shaft are not used. I believe that they run 15mm SAG (30%) on the review thought.

2/3/2017 3:23am Beginning and ending stroke rebound is a nomenclature used by brands to make it easier to understand, but technically is not a correct nomenclature. The correct nomenclature is indeed the low-speed and high-speed rebound (corresponding to the beginning and ending stroke, respectively). So, why it's not correct? Because you can have (and you do have a lot indeed) high-speed rebound...
Andrextr Added a reply to [Video] Rebound Speed vs Suspension Performance
2/2/2017 12:34am Erik saunders: Hi! The natural frequency of a bike (or any vehicle) depends on the stiffness of the spring (which depends on SAG% and amount of travel) and the suspended mass (Kg). For cross country bikes, since they have less travel, and they run lower SAG, they require a much stiffer spring. So, on XC bikes the natural frequencies are...

Andrextr Started a new thread [Video] Air spring shocks & negative chambers
12/5/2016 3:36am Hello guys! Just wanted to share this video, where it is discussed why a bigger negative chamber improves the overall performance of an air shock. Bye
Hope you like it. Bye

Andrextr Added a comment about feature Bike vs Bike - Cam Zink's YT TUES vs YT TUES
4/14/2016 8:51am Me neither!! It's the first time that I also see one on a mountain bike (finally!). It's seems that it's a dual rate spring and not a progressive spring, from http://www.lite-spring.com/

Canfield have also pretty nice kinematics. Actually the Canfield Balance was my first analysis. Riot and Balance share the same system. They have a great pedaling efficiency and a normal progressivity.

I already build the model for the Zerode G2 some weeks ago. It's a unique design. The drawbacks that I remember is the brake squat that is quite high (as Zerode also mentioned in their website). Not sure how much this can affect the ride quality, but definitely it's much higher than most modern DH rigs. And the leverage ratio was also a bit too linear in my opinion. The advantages is the huge rearward travel, no kickback and very good anti-squat.I will do the video as soon as possible

I already did it for Mojo 3. I'm pretty sure that the HD3 is very similar (but with a bit more travel).

Polygon has excellent kinematics. In particular for the DH9, it can achieve a very good anti-squat with a low kickback (which is not always easy to achieve), and it's also very progressive (60-70% progressivity). The braking performance is also good (AR around 50-60%). Overall it's a excellent bike, and I would say overall is quite similar to YT Tues kinematics. I will do the video when possible. Bye
