I have noticed that a lot of bike genres are being defined by the suspension categories- frame makers want to make something that aligns with the Fox 36 SL, for example. So I think they'll continue to aim for that 120-130 rear travel section of the market with the Tallboy. The modular frame approach is going to continue. It means...
The upper link VPP design produces a sine-wave leverage rate that can ride kind of funky, that's why they went to the lower link VPP. If I had to guess, the Tallboy will probably end up looking like a Rocky Mountain Element. Another poster mentioned a valid point: SC in the past has strongly asserted that separate swingarm designs are...
current speculation on MTBR is that the Mega and Nomad will be merged into one model with a flip chip to convert between mullet and 29. Makes me kinda sad to see the Megatower nameplate die as an owner of gen 1 and 2. I want to add to the Transition quality discussion: they have some of the worst paint...

I for one am tired of all of these fancy suspension designs. when will a company invent a frame without rear suspension? no more pesky bearing service or arguments about chain growth. True progress!

Specialized put out some updates to the Butcher and Eliminator earlier this year, and they're coming stock on SJ 15 builds. I put a pair on my Ripley V5 and have been very impressed. They perform really well and the GRID Trail casing seems to be better/stronger than EXO+ while weighing less. I'm pretty burnt out on paying $100+ per...

How does everyone want to celebrate once we hit 1000 pages on the thread? I was thinking maybe we could all go to Chilis and share a Triple Dipper. lmk.

Local shop told me that a replacement for the Yeti SB160E is launching next week (presumably Tuesday, the unofficial launch day of new things). It might use the MT-something name. Should be 160 or 170 travel. Full power Bosch motor. Very expensive, as expected. Dentists rejoice!

Ibis has teaser vids of the alloy (AF) Ripmo V3, and possibly the Ripley V5 on Instagram. release date July 22nd. As the current owner of a carbon Ripley V5, these bikes are going to rock!

I noticed some silver Crankbros wheels popping up, first in Brian Cahal's video on the new Ari Ebike, now on Commencal's Instagram. Hopefully these are releasing soon. Silver rims absolutely need to come back!

Revel shutting down really sucks, I think they had great products, maybe priced a bit high. CBF suspension is rad. Cost of living in Carbondale is quite high and must have been a large factor. I will add into the depressing news: I have heard that the Juliana brand will cease to exist at some point in the near future.

I like that hydraulic bottom out is becoming more popular on "mainstream" suspension. The industry seems to be slowly stealing ideas from trophy trucks and other offroad motorsports. Will we see position sensitive damping and mid speed damping control in the next few years?
