Q1 and this overall race is already getting interesting... any boots on the ground have the scoop on what happened in Asa's first split and if Amaury is OK?
Absolutely crazy qualifying, big names on to q2 and people I didn't expect through on q1. Asa needs to get through in q2, does anyone know if there was a significant mistake that put him so far off the pace?

asa's first split was 7 seconds off pace. had to be a mistake up top.

We could be watching the overall decided in qualifying and it’s UNTELEVISED ☠️☠️☠️
lol yep so much more the 'no points in qualifying so the title isnt decided in qualifying' concept. i guess jordan could get 0 points and still lose? idk. part of me's given up on the points system since uci has done much the same
Sacha got her first Elite podium at Lake Placid last year. Seems like this is a track she likes.
Very impressive time too. Bouladou was 3:53. Ernest had 3:49, and from a Q2. Drying up?
The easily flattenable jumps sections out in the open are a dream for minor impact on the ski season. I like the suggestion that MTB was the easiest pro sport to get.

It is always cool to watch the top title contenders come down last, but at least there will be the excitement of watching multiple runs influence the overall. Hopefully WB uses some of the broadcast real estate to keep a live "title race" point tally for points as they stand while each rider comes down after Asa and Jordan (if needed).

Vermetts time in q2 was 3 seconds faster than Williams in q1, it's going to make finals very interesting.
Flat grass turns are getting chopped out. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see somebody blow out of the rut and the track during a race run.
Update: yes the rut turned to dust and blew out. Some missed the poles. Some pushed up but a couple just kept going and hoped nobody noticed because their chances were over anyway.

gutted for local girl Sam going 11th in juniors girls. home country race and just off the mark. her first full (or nearly full) season doing all the races including EU and she showed promise. full on privateer, go fund me, local shop type racer. well played, lady. now come back and win more of these US races.

I wanna see anyone who is capable of magic on track finals days.
Expand the field to 40.
I'd love to see it expand to 40, but in this case it wouldn't have helped either Jackson or Amaury. But an extra 10 riders at 30-60 second intervals would only add 5-10 mins (math genius I know).
Any word on Amaury? Is he okay?
Wyn's IG shows Asa's airbag still partially inflated as he enters the finish bowl.

Q2 is gonna be a thriller
i'm sweating for this q2 and it aint just cuz its almomst 100 degrees outside...
A major surprise in Junior women's qualifying: Lina Frener fails to qualify.
She's 2nd in points, has won twice this year, and has 3 second-place finishes.
Rough day so far for the Norco team.
She’ll still come second in the overall

Women’s q2 4 seconds faster than q1

Here's the Gravity Lab live tracker: https://gravitylab.live/live.html?session=me-q2&event=20261002_mtb
It's a pretty cool way to visualize what's going on on the track when there's no live broadcast.

Ethan Craik having a quietly impressive year and an absolute scorcher in Q2.
Nice to see Rogge, Hauser and Suetos through to the finals.
Congrats to Danny for his Norco finale!

how INSANE is it that q1 and q2 is not broadcast? literally the most exciting/dramatic part of every weekend w/o fail.
richie to gwin

revised jr. men results came in with - felix griffiths DSQ. rough end to season!
Update: yes the rut turned to dust and blew out. Some missed the poles. Some pushed up but a couple just kept going and hoped nobody noticed because their chances were over anyway.
Jacko out. What a rollercoaster season.
5th thru 13th in Elite Men Q2 between 3:23.458 and 3:23.870! so crazy how close the racing is.
Said in the WB interview post-Q2 finish that he was nervous and overthinking in Q1 and washed out in a rut.

Imagine what a let down the whole race would be if Asa didnt qualify because of something like a puncture and the overall was decided .
It wouldn't irk me so much if qualifying was broadcast and we could see why elite riders are eliminated.
But to check the results and see Gwin and Dak Jackson and loads more out is a bummer.
Massive props to the underdogs who shine on the day they deserve their spot.
