Rapha's Trail shorts. They fit really well, their waist adjustment just works and they have these side pockets your phone just disappears in while riding

sorry, looks like the Glidepaths got a redesign. my bad. At one point they were a lot more similar in regards to buckles, pockets, fabric etc.

My favourite version! I've had two pair in high rotation for 6 years.

Must have for riding shorts (& pants) for me is a good hamstring cell phone pocket that makes the phone disappear while riding.  For shorts I like the Rapha Trail ones mentioned above when I have to drive somewhere to ride because there's a sleeve in both thigh pockets, so I can put my phone on one side and keys on the other side.  The normal hand pockets are nice for stowing stuff briefly while getting ready too.  For local rides where I leave from my house, I like the Patagonia Landfarer - the phone pocket is even better (drop-in with snap closure), the waist is even more comfortable, and the material is lighter and stretchier.

Yeah, that pocket is essential, haven't really had any shorts without one.

Endura Humvee had huge one 15 years ago (don't know the state now), Race Face Ambush shorts had them (on the small side, but still), Norrona Fjora has them. One bug negative with Norrona's Fjora range is the fact that the pants have this pocket on the front, on top of the thigh.

Haven’t read all the replies, but for me it’s DHaRCo for both shorts and pants. They’re expensive and a bit on the flimsy side but they’re my favourite. There’s a phone pocket at the back just under the waist which I rather like.

Their marketing is cringe though.
