Will lighter riders benefit from an RS Zeb or Fox 38?

My answer is yes. I am 70kg/155lb 5ft 6 tall, i went from a 170mm 36 to a 180mm 38. The stiffness is incredibly evident, it is also incredibly plush. i did not notice the extra 300grams of weight, if I had not weighed them I would not have known the 38 was heavier.
I also changed back to the simple grip damper after being on the grip2 for quite some time. I always found the grip2 was far overdamped for my weight, even with everything open.
Apart from going 29er 4 years ago, the fox 38 is a very close second of such a change in a product that can be so noticably felt on the first ride.
I highly recommend the bigger fork to everyone.

A well known suspension tuner here in the UK changed the damper fluid to half the weight in my last service on my Grip2 due to the over damped issue - made a huge improvement.

So 2.5wt? Any thinner may as well put in water!

What year model Grip2? The VVC is significantly less damped I've found. The 2019 36 I had was a bit of a jackhammer, whereas my new 38 is usable.

Original Grip2. I’ve heard the newer one is improved to reflect that the old one was overdamped.

There is a review of the new Marin Trail on PB which seems to indicate that the Zeb with the Charger 3 damper isn't great for lighter riders.

Bringing this thread back up as I am considering getting a Zeb but waiting on the Charger 3.1 version.  I am 66 kg (145 lbs) and I'm worried the Zeb might not be worth the coin.

Get a 36. You don't need a 38. Maybe if you were on a longer travel e-bike. But with your weight and that bike set up... get a 36. I have both 36/38. The 36 is plenty of fork on my chameleon and it's a rowdy rowdy chameleon... and I weigh 250 pounds. You do not need a 38.

Charlie Murray doesn't seem to have any issues going fast on a Lyrik.

I think there are lots of people out there on Zeb's and 38's that are on the placebo training thinking they need the extra beef.
