We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Hi everyone
My name is Michal/Michael.
I ride a 2020 Nukeproof mega 290C in and around Bielsko Biala Poland. I also race something.
On the bike for more than 30 years now but enduro for 7 years. In between there were rallies
Howdy,
Name is Eric.
Received my first “real” bike in 1996 in the form of a Giant Yukon. Took a hiatus for turbos between 2003 and 2016, coming back because the job ruined the hobby.
Username is unrelated to cuffing female XC champs but an extension from the days I ran a Subaru performance shop.
I’ve been lurking in the Team and Tech speculation threads for quite some time. I’m tired of hitting “last page” then backing up to the point of my last visit and not being able to like BOTD so I finally joined up.
Ripmo and Stumpy Evo are in the shed
Hi guys! I am Glan. Huge fan of cycling since i was 3 probably. First time joining community like this.
Hey everyone!
My name is Ben, I have always loved trail riding with a background in BMX trails, rode those most of my life while skateboarding. Then as I got older I rode less and less trails until about 8 years ago I got my first DJ bike and fell back in love with trial riding. Since then I have went from having my DJ to a hardtail and now to my 2022 Marin Rift Zone 1. I have lots of questions about DH/Full Suspension so I am looking forward to learning more about this beast.
Greetings,
Washed up ex Pro Motocoss Racer and Skatebarder from Ventura Ca 🤣🤣🤣
Hi I'm Evan.
Been riding just over a year now and I loving it. Joined this so I can ask stupid questions and try learn more about it all really !
Hey I'm Kendall from central Illinois. I'm currently riding a Pipedream Moxie that was my first frame up build.
Howdy,
I’m Tim from Vermont. I too like to party….but more seriously, I like bikes and hanging with my dogs. Here to mostly lurk on news and tech updates but enjoy the community.

currently on a stump jumper evo alloy because I like to tinker.
Troy from west MI. Just getting into the sport. Planning to replace running with mountain biking. Just got an upgraded mid 90’s (I think) GT All Terra Tempest with RockShox fork. Any info on those is appreciated. Thanks!
My name Is Justin
Started MTB in 98, been away from it for the past 8yrs.
Got back into it hardcore again and purcahased my first new bike since 2011.
Brand new Santa Cruz Chameleon.

Oh hello there. I'm Jim. From the UK.
I've been into DH since 1996 ish. I'm your typical DIRT magazine reader that's never raced! All the bikes I've ever owned have been 2nd hand and have been bought on what I deem a good product using my skills and judgement based on my day job as an engineer/classic car restorer, I've always built and assembled my own kit. I've a nice little collection of old skool dh bikes from back in the day.
Started riding MTB as a kid back around 1989. Broke that bike a few years later and didn't get another until 1997, a Kona hardtail that was too small for me, low spec components. Eventually got a Marin Steel Hardtail in 1999, mid range spec (9 speed XT, Manitou 80mm fork and 26" wheels). Raced on that in college along with a Marin steel Road bike I built up from a frame Still have it. Rode it a little here and there for 20 years. yes, 20 years passed. Was mostly doing triathlons from 2001-this year. Moved to colorado and realized my ancient hardtail was no match for the quality of the trails and was a size too small anyway.
Traded in a Tri bike for this. 2014 Scott Spark 910. 29" 100mm F/R 2x10. It's 10 years old but 1 years newer than what I was riding. Huge step forward. I prefer flow to technical downhills, so this suites we well. Will use it as a gravel bike as well. Responsive, light and relatively nimble. Climbs like a beast. Loving it so far. Just getting suspension dialed it and still nursing a broken collarbone, so no real trails for a few more weeks.
Needs a dropper post and eventually 1x11. But might update my CX/gravel bike first.
I'm Mike.
I do all the things, but none of them better than "pretty good". Jack of all trades, master of none. I ...
- enjoy gettin' out and after it, basically just being outside, doin' hard stuff.
- like adrenaline and accomplishment, but usually feel like I'm in way over my head
- In addition to MTB, I like skiing and ski touring (like winter MTBing), mountaineering, climbing, and trail running, and rafting
- am cheap, but also have a gear addiction. And a deal addiction. I'm usually looking for the best mid-max deal I can find. What's the most and best bike for the least amount of money... Or skis ... or gear in general...
- am located in Boulder, CO.
Hello,
From the French Alpes , my name is Martin. I ride more enduro type terrain and some long day trip.
Reading Vital since long time, first time on the forum.
See you on the trails !
Have two SS bikes one retro other ebike
I don't like spanners
That is all.
This thread rules, I just read it all.
message boards are my favorite thing on the internet. Vital’s is kinda firing right now! I’ve been having trouble sleeping this week and I’ll come here at 3am and it’s all Quickbooks bots—who cleans that up? I’d like to Venmo you five bucks for your troubles.
I do my best Sir. Thank you. But I don't have the power to nuke members, just posts. And there are of course, other Mods.
Forgot to introduce myself.
Name’s Ethan I don’t use Vital much.
Life Story: None
Hey y'all.
Long time poster at a couple other bike websites. I've been lurking on VITAL for a couple of years but just made an account today.
I started riding in the late 90's. Mostly DH back then. 1000's of laps of ALine and Dirt Merchant before I slowly transitioned to pedalling.
Now working for a trail building company and living in the Sea 2 Sky.
Chris
We live in Ridgecrest , Ca
Tons of area for dirt cycles and Mtb’s
Moto and Mtb enthusiast , more Mtb now and only ride off road occasionally
I have had a vitalmx account for some years now but
Figured I would fire up an account over here since I just purchased a Yamaha Moro Pro and trying to find info on shock/fork pressures and setup .
Im 50/married/ 2 adult sons
Work for Us Govt
If there are any locals to me that would like to hit up some of the local trails that would be awesome !
Travis , been around for 20+ years, some know me some don't...
(Disclaimer: I love trying new stuff)
Like trying new bikes, parts, suspension, suspension tools and tuning etc ., no placebo effect...get stuff to try or cheap so if I'm not happy I sell it and don't take a loss, doesn't mean the product isn't good . It means possibly it didn't work for me or as described...some stuff is bad but alot is one size doesn't fit all..
We are all different backgrounds of riding, our physical builds .
(long, short, fat, skinny, bmx, MX so on.)
And I ride here and there and in-between , from Washington (born and raised) to San Diego which is home now.
DH for last 23 years, raced, ride for fun and now a Jibber for the most part..
Jimmy or “Mutt”. I’m a long time VitalMX guy making the switch. 55 years old, living in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
Grew up riding MX and BMX. Around ‘85 I turned my Schwinn ten speed in to my thoughts of a BMX Cruiser/MTB.
After many years away from bicycles. I bought this ‘96 ProFlex Beast during forced home confinement. Living in Lakeway, TX at the time, great riding out my back door.

Believe it or not, the antique has been down 90% of the trails at Spider Mountain. Sticky Icky did cause the Noleen Shock to implode.
Now I’m living in Angel Fire, NM. Home of the best chairlift downhill park. So I upgraded to this 2019 Scott Gambler 730.
Hey y'all, Jason here. I am totally lost, but I have a kid who is interested in this and I'm trying to learn. I'm a dinosaur BMX'er, still have my GT Interceptor hanging in the garage. However, when it comes to this world I am pretty clueless. My 14yr old has an interest in MTB's and I'm willing to give anything a shot to decrease the screen time. Hoping I can get a few suggestions on a direction we should go.
John, from Wisco. Former mechanic of 20 odd years, former industry guy of 10 years, former messenger of 8 years, former BMXer, learned suicide no handers on a Bontrager Race. Current rides are a RSD Sargeant (versatility is the game), Trance X (jack of all, master of none, always fun), and a Status 160 that began as an idea of how cheaply one can build a trustworthy biggish bike when Spec and other shops were offering the frames for $750. Still working on being an open-minded curmudgeon, but occasionally finds it hard to bend like bamboo when I've spent a hunka my life as an oak.
Chris, from Long Island, NY. 52 yrs old. Always rode a bike when I was a kid then graduated to Harleys. Have an old Trek 820 that is most likely 25yrs old. Recently went to a trail with a friend and used the Trek and realized it may be time to get a new bike... Looking at most bikes today, I am taken back with all the modern upgrades, disc brakes?!?!? Just like Jason above, I am starting to go down the rabbit hole, lots to catch up on and learn...
R120 from the Surrey Alps just south of London Town. Been riding MTB since late 80’s and pretty much any and every kind of bike since i can remember, seduced from a young age by the mechanical anarchy of cogs and chains.
Spent many years in the Alps on snow and dirt, been lucky enough to ride both badly with some of the best riders out there by the sheer chance of being in the right place at the right time.
More of a weekend warrior now and been a long time Vital reader, decided i might chip in ince and a while from now on.
Hi all,
Curveball from Washington State. I ride my Orbea Rallon on the local steep loamers and such. And then I have a Ragley hardtail for the mellower trails and riding with my wife.
