Wait What? A Compressor on the Wheel?

Genius or madness? We're not really sold on the idea of mounting a compressor to our front wheel, but the portable aircan thing could be a viable replacement for the pump in your pack, if you charge it at home. What do you think?

More info HERE if you want it.

I like the idea, especially the rechargeable canister. The concern which wasn't mentioned and I'm sure will be the main question for most..how much does the full kit weigh? It looks pretty heavy.

Not sure how many inflation of a tyre you would get out of the can, which is another concern...could you risk leaving your standard pump at home. If the can runs low and you didn't manage to get inflated in time, the rest is useless, you can't cycle the device to charge it up.
If it were attached to the rear wheel, or to the chain, you could flip the bike and hand pedal to get a charge. But not with the front wheel concept.

I can see this mainly for people who aren't as hard core into mountain biking as a lot of us here are. Although, maybe a few hard core MTBer's may get this but I doubt it will catch on.

I think it will be great for commuters and people who just like to cruise and hate hand pumping their flat tires. Maybe older people?

I think the real benefit would be for people riding scooters and such, but then they would lose the ability to charge it by pedal strokes. I guess that's why it has the electric pump charger.

All in all something I'll probably never own.

Hmm.. for a storage tank on the trail, it could be possible to pressurize the down tube, or other parts of the frame... much like the airhog airplanes.. it doesn't weigh much, but could come in handy on the trail. Just fill'er up to 60 PSI for two tires..

just don't whack your frame and make it explode.. that would be worse than the potential flat tire..

Fail to see why you would need anything other than a couple of 16g CO2 cartridges. Overly complicated solution to a problem, solved already by something far simpler/compact/cheaper.

Would be really good for folks who like touring as a past time.
