Loudenvielle Course POV with Chris Hauser of The Union 6

There's a brand new track for the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill in Loudenvielle, France. The course starts off fast and open but then turns into some of the steepest terrain ever ridden at a DH World Cup. Chris Hauser of The Union takes us for a lap as he navigates traffic and lines.

I like it.

Remember the first time we saw videos from the Lourdes track? Everyone said it was lame,and it is a great course after all.

Let's hope the same happens here.

I know this will be a hard track to win on, which may make for good racing, but it just doesn't offer enough challenge or length for this to be a WC DH level course. It really feels like they were already coming here for the Enduro, and then convinced the promoters to do the DH as they were already in the neighborhood between Andorra and Les Gets.

Length?  He ran a 3:30 in a full free fall.
Winning time should be dead on 3 minutes like they asking for (although I'm still the guy who remembers the 6 minute Les Gets races & loved them). I'm with you about the upper part though.  Don't see why they couldn't add some chicanes to stretch it out, give riders a chance to showcase skills.


I like longer races, but we're giving our sport too many hyper specific parameters for even an entire planet to be able to perfectly accomadate.
The fasters racers in the world are the fastest on any track.
Even the ones who try to bitch about Snowshoe having pedaling.  There were times I raced there that sucked...but it was because of my fitness.

The dudes that could blitz the big stuff AND hammer the big sprints win everything.  Let's bring back a few seconds of sprinting and some 180's to separate the men from the boys.

I can see that stump on the drop after the bridge (@2.07) causing a few casualties if they leave it in.
