I do! After every ride, I brush off the dust/dirt with a fine brush/toothbrush. Then I smear a drop or two of Fork Boost about 1/3 from the seal on each stanchion and compress the fork a few times. Then I wipe clean, cycle again, wipe clean again to make sure nothing is left. Seems to work great for me!

Not technically low maintenance way to take care of fork but takes very little time. I have a bunch of the crush washers and spare foam rings. I drop the lowers to clean and change that oil regularly. If foam rings are really dirty swap them out for new ones. Rock shox is the best for this as the washers and rings are inexpensive. Costs me a few bucks to do this since you can buy these parts in bulk.

for sure, I bought a second hand set of 36's for my hardtail build recently, yesterday I was bouncing around on the bike and thought "man these things are harsh off the top" so tore them apart and I nearly fainted when I saw what was going on inside.

A metric shitload of float fluid on top of the air spring, this blocked equalization port, then a huge glob of grease on top. Then in the lowers, the foam rings were black with crap, and dry.... but the best part was there was a damper side crush washer sitting in the bottom of the lowers lol. I don't even know how it got there.

Buttoned it back up, holy shit what a difference. Feels perfect again.

These forks looked near new on the outside, iraqi car bomb on the inside! Drop those lowers is the moral of the story.

Apparently Fox forks come from the factory with an insane amount of grease on the air piston?

Look for wear or harm to the component's drivetrain or other common damage. Pay special attention to the drivetrain's blades, which absolutely must not feel worn or dull.
