Electric mountain bikes. Either you love ‘em, or think they’re wack. Granted, the latter opinion has been losing steam as more brands release good e-bikes, and more riders toss a leg over one. They’re the talk of our industry and are one of the few, if not the only, segments of bikes experiencing significant change year after year.

In this show, Vital’s own Jason Schroeder and Shawn Spomer, along with industry veteran Lars Sternberg, and Founder/Operator of Crestline Bikes, Troydon Murison, sift through the current landscape of e-bikes and discuss what the future might hold. The conversation also kicks off with a rad (almost hour-long) dive into how Crestline Bikes became a thing and the challenges posed by making bikes overseas.

Amfow is making a bike that the vast majority of cyclists want as the bike suits the vast majority of trails people really ride.

Crestline man gets it, seems just enough of an outsider to the bike world to get some rad shit done. Making what you think is cool trying to sell it is infinitely better than trying to build what the dingdongs say they want. Spomer man runs the site so he gets it but is wrong about soty. I know it’s hard to accept but the vert button is real and it’s real for a reason. Lars man is cool I like him. Young man Schroeder should write an ebike letter to himself to read in ten years. And then ten years after that. 31 years old dude! Ahahahaha pedaling an ebike with the motor off ahahahahahaa

Just a note from a uk dude here about our trails. There’s a number of factors. 

Scotland has different land laws than England and wales generally speaking our tracks are on smaller hills so we can’t afford to just shoot straight down hence all the turns. These videos you see will be fresh loam tracks, the average rider won’t get close to riding them unless they built them, before they get rain and rider damaged. Most tracks typically associated with the uk scene are illegal either private or government land (we don’t have guns) so no real consequences to trespass. Britain is very small so every keen rider has a local hill.
