zo Added a reply to 2016 Racing Rumours

I thought that was already the deal they had in place with the Gravity Republic? Lapierre supplied them with frames. They weren't Lapierre Factory Racing. Seemed pretty clear to me that Lapierre intended to get out of WC DH for 2016. Unless of course you have some inside info, Lapierreloosley?

I mean a lot of power... Seriously though, that has been an issue and Canfield is well aware of it. On a DH or Road cassette with a 28T max cog it could very well be less of an issue. To get enough chain wrap on the 9T you really have to back off the B Tension adjustment. To the point that you then do not have enough B Tension to effectively move up to your 34T or 36T low gear (obviously I'm talking about 10 spd applications.)

It is very tough to get enough chain wrap on 9T cogs. I suspect that contributed to why the aftermarket Canfield 9T (which was first released 5+ years ago) never really took off. I'm sure you can get them to work great in the stand, under max power though is another story...

zo Added a reply to Enduro practice - Should it be standardized?

No, I'd say sprinting from 20-30 feet back into stage starts is against the spirit of the sport. Especially when it's someone like Clementz calling you out for doing it. The guys getting paid to race their bikes showing up a few days early to get the lay of the land is what should be not at all shocking...

The difference between the top EWS riders and your typical local American "pro" entrant has nothing to do with an extra day of practice. Marco Osborne raced much of the multi day event last year in CB blind and he won the thing. Last year I heard of issues with some people insisting on taking "running" starts into timed stages...

zo Added a reply to manualing a 29er

29er's have tons of bottom bracket drop (like 30+ mm's). Having your weight so far below the axles is the main reason they are more difficult to manual than a bike with 26" or 27.5" wheels. That increased BB drop is also the reason 29er's can feel so stable in many riding situations. Give and take...

Seems very idealistic. Yes, I believe people use ill fitting equipment all the time because that is what their sponsors have issued them. I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who get paid to ride a bicycle, even if it's only for 5 or so years (although I can think of several riders whose careers far outlasted any...

I agree with many of your points, and disagree with a few. My opinion is that if someone is fortunate enough to get picked up by a major UCI Elite team, then yeah, they may have to drop one of their lesser sponsors to get in line with the team. Sponsors drop athletes all the time. Athletes should be able...

It's gotta be one of two scenarios: 1- The UCI is a bunch of old crusty people who personally hate Steve Peat, Minnaar, Bryceland, all Vital MTB readers, and Pinkbike too... or 2- The UCI wants all members of any registered teams to have very similar kits (not unlike every single other professional sport in the world) It's gotta be...

It said one tester was 6'5". You think he should have been on a large?
