agree Wolfpack almost no high end alu builds. But on the bright side there are awesome alu frames out there from Banshee, Knolly, Ibis and many more from $1800 - $2200 as a starting point to a high end build. With nice components those will still be pricey bikes tho.

I only have a really nice bike because I work at a shop and get a discount, otherwise, it would be really hard for me to spend the kind of money most bikes and components cost. My biggest complaint is that all manufacturers only offer better builds with Carbon frames. If you could get Aluminum frames with all the nicer components I think that would help more people get into our sport. But on the other hand, there are so many people on the trails here that maybe we need fewer people into mountain biking!

Good idea! ShockWiz does provide a "deep compressions" count and various other metrics that might be helpful.

One more thing, I don't have any experience with the Quark Shock Wiz, but I was wondering if you all could use it next time to see if it provides useful information. I'm curious b/c you all mention how many times some of the bikes bottomed out and I was curious if the Shock Wiz would provide actual data confirming your suspicions on how the suspension is working.

I like your list. Would be very interesting as the Scott and SC are better all rounders and Intense/YT better dh mobsters. Is there really much dif between the 150 and 160 29er crew?

Bturman, what are your overall thoughts on 29er fork offset? Was the 44 vs 51 noticeable when switching between bikes?

I love the suggestion someone made of doing the comparison you all did, which is great, and then trying to standardize throw away components (e.g. tires). I hate magazine reviews of bikes that say how awesome some bike is because it came with XYZ tires. Everyone will eventually burn through a set of tires and change them. I like seeing bikes come with great tires but even if they don't I'll put them on when I need too. So, if logistically possible, do what you did then try to standardize the bikes as much as possible with parts that normal...
