Why do you want us to talk about Aaron and Greg in an article about Sam Hill winning the EWS? Saying that Sam Hill was and is a great champion takes nothing away from any other rider who has also accomplished great things - before OR after Sam.

Cairns is a pretty special place as far as MTB goes. In the early 90's it was home to a very progressive riding culture that became world famous through the MudCows series of Videos. Other than the gigantic gaps these guys and girls do at these WC tracks, that rock garden is some thing I would not even attempt, the worlds best looking like they are out of their comfort and skill zones, every OTB in that clip had me gasping air in thru my teeth.

You could make it happen right now. Wide 26" rims are already available, and you can get a 26+ tyre from surly http://surlybikes.com/parts/wheels/dirt_wizard_26. The frame clearance on existing frames may not be sufficient though. Also, I think the success of chubby wheels is going to be very dependent on the tyre construction and tread design, and I've got no idea if those surly tyres are any good.
