12/14/2025 5:02am I'm also from Germany, and I have to say that I was equally irritated by how casually people (or at least those commenting) dealt with all the YT fuss. I hope it’s just the people who comment. But outside the „real interested bike-people-bubble“, I think nobody cares if they don’t know the YT story.

just take a peak into the mtb-news.de forums regarding the last YT topics. the tenor there is totally different compared to here. doesn‘t matter how many facts you bring to the table about YT/flossmann screwing people over multiple times plus the very convenient founding of the new company right before the press release about YT’s financial troubles. markus is the hero there. those 50 bikes got easily scooped up by those people. problem is now most will expect such ridiculous pricing on all future YT bikes.

Thanks to those who've taken time to write kind words about Downtime. I was expecting to get some hate for this episode as there is definitely a lot of frustration out there on this topic and Markus appears to be a very polarising character. For what it's worth, I put in the time to understand the concerns of the MTB world as much as was possible from forums etc and I believe that all those key points were covered in this interview. Chris is the man. The amount that guy does for gravity sports and athlete exposure is unreal. I think it's unfair to bash downtime over the YT gong show. Keen for a Vital x Downtime 2025 recap podcast this slow season 👀

Really good, interesting podcast. Enjoyed it (as much as somebody can enjoy this whole sad story). I’m also very interested to get to know who is the person / company which gave the first big credit to YT.

More like I finally have the option of a downhill bike so I want to see what all the hype is about. I am plenty happy with Enduro and from what I've heard internally, contrary to rumours, Enduro isn't going anywhere. But just wait till you see my latest bike, new year new me.

The format that was in place 3-4 years ago. Doesn’t need to be live, just good quality track previews, when Rick built hype about who was where in the standings etc, followed by a “how it went down” after show race that lasted 30 mins or so - I used to watch every one. I think splitting it back up over 2 days properly and ditch the queen stage idea.
