Lets be clear - we are talking about 4,000 Euro - That amounts to $5520.00 + tax (lets call it $5900.00 out the door). Don't get me wrong - its a good price. It will be higher than that once they pay import fees to the US as well. Again - decent price assuming the bike...more

Selling direct to the customer is great for keeping prices down, but the shops that will inevitably have to work on these bikes need to be selling them to stay afloat. Sweet looking bike, but their business model shits on the guys the customers will be relying on for the...more

Great front flip - it came out of nowhere on that moderate jump and I'm like, "WHAT?!".

Added a comment about video EPIC - MICHAL MAROSI - SPICAK RIDE 9/6/2013 3:02 PM

The 3D needs some major adjustment, but it might look good after:
1. It has to be synchronized. You can do it by aligning the frames in post, but for cycling shots it needs to be 1/2000 of a second or better (I would do 1/10000 or better with my old cams). So that means if you shoot at 60 fps, you only have 1/60th of a second to adjust.....so it may never look good because the initial synch is out. The older go-pro 2's have full synch capabilities, but unfortunately the new ones do not.
2. The frames have to be meshed and aligned at the same angle and in a way that the -Z plane (stuff sticking out the window) doesn't hurt the eyes. This is done through experimenting or using a progam's auto align option, such as in Vegas Pro 10 or better. I still find manual alignment is best, but more time consuming.
3. You have to render in stereo friendly format (left-over-right, left-next-to-right, left-next-to-right half width OR cross-eyed. Cross-eyed is actually preferred for true stereo enthusiasts because they can view it on the screen w/out glasses by crossing their eyes.)
4. You have to attach tags in youtube that tell the player what stereo format you are using. I usually render crosseyed (right-next-to-left HALF WIDTH), so if you go to my vids I believe you can just copy/paste the tags for that format.
5. Be careful with your camera spacing (interaxial distance) and your distance from you subject. CLOSER IS NOT BETTER. You can't shoot something close with a far background (helmet against trail) and have your cameras spaced far apart and you can't point an object up close to the camers- it will not have the effect you are looking for. This is where you can shoot conservative (cams close together and stay 5 to 15 feet away) or get a focal length/interaxial chart http://www.berezin.com/3d/tech/lens_separation_in_stereo_photog.htm
6.. Have entirely too much time or desire on your hands!! 3D is a lot work, as many people are finding out. But if you have a 3D TV (I love my 800$ LG polarized 55 inch) it is well worth it IMO.

Pretty sure they will have a wooden extension at the guard for the event. Aslo, that gap will be a pro and cat 1 only feature. Rest of the course is pretty nice too, with some drops that can be pretty big if you go for the "second knuckle".

Thanks Chase and Robert. Jim made me wait a long time for that seasons shot! We had planned on doing a whole snow segment with these panaracer spike F tires I had from the mid 90's (they are fantastic in the snow). But I had two young kids and a pregnant wife during filming, so the time never happened. Kind of like all the bowling you want to do Chase

Jim D is one of those pillars in the east coast cycling community who just loves to ride and share the experience. He's been around forever, ridden pro, owned a shop, sold bicycles, volunteers and helps build trails. He's one of those riders I am proud to film. Here he is on his local PA trails at Glen Park, near Stroudsburg PA. Hope he still finds time to ride there in between chaning diapers for his twin boys!

Added a new video MESC Chapter V - Rick Nolte 2D 1/10/2012 11:03 PM

Rick Nolte is a manual maniac- he can ride a back wheel like nobody's business. Nothing like a sunny day in San Francisco watching Nick entertain the tourists on Lombard Street. This segment can be seen in full color 3D on Make Every Second Count- more information at www.spinteck.com. I personally think one of the craziest things I've ever seen in a bike video when Rick passes a trolly on a 35mph manual on one of the steepest streets in the city- but he makes it look effortless.

Added a comment about video Make Every Second Count: Logan Binggeli 11/24/2011 9:32 PM

Logan is as sure footed as a mountain goat- he really didn't practice any of that before he hit it. Segment was shot January 2010 around Grafton and the Rampage site. The 3D short took 3rd in the 7th Annual LA 3D Film Festival that May and coincidentally the Rampage later that year was also shot in 3D by Hi- Ground. Logan's clip was the second segment of my 3D project and this one I took my time and utilized the new 3D blu ray technololgy. Most segments will be available in 2D every couple weeks. Thanks for posting.
