scarface Liked a comment about News Story Dave Weagle Sues Giant for Patent Infringement

5/5/2013 1:34pm
So a guy invents a completely new suspension system, files and gets patents on it, then some company steals his work and decides to string him along for years while pretending to negotiate around licensing the design, until the point where he's had it and decides to sue. And not only that, it happens AGAIN with ANOTHER design...and now somehow, this is actually his fault and he's a loser for complaining? You're saying he should NOT go after "everybody" who steals his work???

scottyl Added a reply to The UCI - The Empire Strikes Back?

Do you want to help prop up a bunch of kooks who seem determined to control the sport at all costs? If so, race only affiliated races and pay your fees. Otherwise, keep doing what you do. Mountainbiking doesn't NEED the UCI. Mountain-bike organisations bow to their BS demands on a day-to-day basis, and for what? Just so we can...

The section in Chainsmoke 2 where Todd Snider has got his Intense drifting fully sideways to the Deftones' Headup going on 11 is pure celluloid Nirvana. Wade Simmons section in NWD3. Coastal Crew's section in Kranked 8 for pure riding awesomeness. The NWD greatest hits DVD is pretty entertaining BTW.

The GT IT1 was basically a URT with a gearbox at the pivot point, the zerode is a completely different kettle of fish. *EDIT* actually, WRONG. Not a URT. Still very different though *EDIT* But yeah, they both have gearboxes. So did the Lahar, another kickass Kiwi design.

scottyl Added a comment about feature Gloves, Body Protection Required at La Bresse

8/6/2011 12:27pm
Mountain Bike New Zealand just amended their armor rules. Because Kiwis don't like wearing gloves... well, a lot of the fast ones don't. Feedback has generally been that some riders prefer to ride without gloves, as they do in World Cup rounds and at the World Champs, from a safety perspective neck, elbow and knee protection offer significantly more protection than a thin pair of gloves, gloves may in some cases increase the likelihood of injury, particularly if they become slippery, etc, etc. This single requirement regarding gloves for DH events has caused the most controversy for riders and officiating...

Personal preference I know, but two words: Bearclaw Invitational. I have nothing against wood on slopestyle courses, I've just felt the last couple of years they've thrown a bunch of crap on the Crankworx course that really has little purpose but to provide a billboard for someone to slap a logo on. If you're making compromises on course design in...

Awesome! That was back in the day when they made most of the course out of dirt... ...because you know, it was called mountain-biking. Now a lot of it is a bunch of shitty little plywood obstacles (I mean, promotional opportunities) with lame names like 'the mustache ride'.
