Freecoasters are so so so fun (had my steel unsealed Nankai hub). But tricky to master. I think they may want to make a how-to video for the many riders in the non-freecoaster crowd...

My SCG's are basically the most comfortable riding shoes I've ever found. And they've lasted way way longer than any shoe I've ridden in the past 10 years. It's pretty much a totally new shoe design, even though on the outside they look fairly 'flat'. The grip is unique in that it's different and better feeling than the other standards out there. You can move your foot freely when you want to reposition. So you don't feel stuck. But then when you put pressure down they grip really well. I used to run my shifter with a modified clamp to fit around my seat post. Hit one jump and do a gear shift toboggan. Hit the next and do an ET. Pedal away faster in a new gear.

Redesigning their shoes every single year seems a little weird to me... I have been really happy with my ME5's but pretty disappointed with the previous AM9's (not comfortable, weird sizing and very soft sole). Those looking at the DH clipless pedal might want to look at Funn Mambas or DMR's offering which are on the market for less and use shimano cleats. Personally I tried the Mambas, but ended up returning to a XT trail pedal as the wider platform and pins didnt do much for me and actively hindered easy engagement on the cleat.

If my daughters would still ride, they'd agree about the pink thing. $90 for kids shoes is insane though. The most expensive athletic footwear for kids does not typically exceed $60.

We've come a long way in 5 years! With DH helmets evolving from being surprisingly skimpy, to now having smart protection both in design and engineering... can't wait to check this one out! We've ridden Bell's MTB-oriented Bell Full 9 for a few years and love it. What a great time to be riding!
