For the record, e-bike racing is a joke. And I own an e-mtb. I am also not aware of that rumour. Is that insider/forum consent? Considering the lack of depth the e-edr field had the last years I highly doubt it. I also would like to hear Chris Ball and his view on it. For what it's worth, he was the guy who created the EWS (now EDR, so why would he destroy it. I saw the double-, or multiple-headers as a good thing but it hasn't delivered. So maybe this was a mistake. Or maybe DH just takes so...

i just don‘t understand why they (ESO/UCI) would discontinue normal EDR/EWS racing and only support e-bike racing… no one watches/reads that sh*t!!! and no one‘s gonna buy one of those bikes someone won a race on it no one ever heard about it. makes zero sense to me marketingwise.

DH is fine though. Imo as a spectator. Cant understand people complain about something as great as the Les Gets race coverage. As an austrian gaving an austrian commentator (Markus Pekoll) i gladdly finance thqt with the gcn + subscribtion. Just a sign of changes to come maybe

If you're seriously suggesting that the coverage of racing this year has had more of an impact on bike companies than the global economy and recovery from the pandemic you are absolutely dreaming. There have been multiple stories over the past 18-24 months about how companies have been paying more for stock/production/shipping than before, increasing their retail prices dramatically, and forecasting way higher sales and ordering inventory accordingly. The global economy has shit the bed, inflation went wild, people's spending power has been cut, businesses are hurting across almost all areas. UCI DH has had new tracks and venues this year, more interest than ever (any press is good press and all the negative comments are comments none the less), more entries than ever at most races it seems. Huge interest from brands, who despite not having budget still want to be involved in DH some how. The only people your hairbrained idea of not watching content would hurt is teams and riders, mainly riders. pumping is absolutely less effective than on non-HPP. In thinking back now, i actually stopped using pumping as a strategy, and am only slowly doing it more now - years later. My strategy became - work really hard to get up to speed, and then do everything to maintain (eg minimal braking, large apex on turns, send all jumps to flat lol)

I think HPP bikes would be a dog to pump because the rear wheel doesn't want to stay in the same place as you pump. Hardtails pump better than full-suspension bikes, and I feel like a HPP bike would pump even worse. I don't think most beginner and intermediate riders would notice this because I think most beginners and intermediates are just hanging on to survive aggressive trails, but when you want to go real fast you have to pump everything. This would obviously be less of a factor on steeper and rougher trails, though.

Ive had a few HPP bikes and always found positives and drawbacks that were similar. Often the drawbacks arent discussed - changing WB in cornering requires more active body positioning and you have to learn a new method; jumps feel unusual on the lip but can adjust to it; "poppy" feeling is gone; front wheel lifting is very hard; pedalling feels inefficient. Overall i always felt it took more effort to get up to speed, but then easier to maintain. When I went to HPP though, I actually didnt go faster, when I went back to non-HPP i actually went...

when you pedal with Ochain the springs is completely compressed during the whole 360 °. The elastomer works to give a fluid engagement but the elastomer travel is ridiculous.

Good question! Thin is why we can remove or REDUCED the pedal kickback. In some conditions is good to have some reactions from suspension in order to have a more reactive bike (for example when you pump the bike)
