ride Added a comment about feature FIRST RIDE - Yeti's New LT Enduro Bike Absolutely Slaps
7/14/2026 3:49pm Interestingly enough, I don't think you'd hanker for a reduced travel fork. If the bike was ultra slack, you might. But it maneuvers tight stuff really well, and already has so much front wheel grip. As I mentioned, I raised the bars really early on to bring the front end up, I could go down 20mm if I wanted.

7/14/2026 3:47pm I guess I just assumed it was a 205mm x 65mm Trunnion shock. Pretty sure it is based off the sag measurement, but will confirm. DEG DF hub set to 10*. I found that was a really nice setting on the TB, just went with that on this one as well.

6/28/2026 7:58pm I actually signed up to Vital just to say: I love the podcast. Specifically the unaffiliated recent stuff, but I'm having a great time going back and listening to everything older. It's an added benefit to be in Washington and have the regionality be relatable, having been to some of the same places and events, and worked with some of the same people. Keep up the good work!

6/23/2026 7:08am Yeah same here in the 'ham. There are at minimum 6 pretty bad ass Surron tracks in, or adjacent to the properties of well established MTB folks here in town. Some of their Rons are as insanely built out and equipped as some of the most expensive halo emtb's on the market...

6/1/2026 12:46pm I can assure you it wasn't. I am still riding the bike, but intentionally didn't have it in my possession until the day of launch, to avoid this exact thing from happening.

ride Added a comment about blog post New Look Who Dis? - Santa Cruz Tallboy 6 - First Ride
5/21/2026 8:10pm Thank you! So far I haven’t reached the limit of the motives, but also haven’t done any sustained steep riding yet. So far so good thus far. Mavens feel too powerful for my lack of braking finesse, these seem like a complimentary spec for the bike. I’m 155llb though so that might be helping? I didn’t catch the brakes he was riding, and tbh I thought the Tallboy I rode had mavens until I checked my photos afterwards. I didn’t think about the brakes, which to me is a great sign.

5/20/2026 2:35pm You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...

5/20/2026 2:35pm I will also chime in here as a bigger rider that does enjoy this style of bike... a more linear feel like that is ideal because of the pressures I need to run. Otherwise bikes get WAY too progressive for larger riders. Easier to add tokens than be left with none to take out and then still be way too progressive. one of my favorite bikes was the strive... specifically because after the Vital review from Robot etc. they said it was way too linear and had to add spacers. I got on it and rode absolutely perfect for me.

5/19/2026 7:56pm Hey! I only say this to address this comment, as my feedback might be deceiving. I'm likely riding a bike well beyond an acceptable tuning limit for mass consumption. I don't ride like that 24/7 because it's plain unsustainable for me at this stage in life, but when my appetite surpasses self preservation I can dip in there. So, take my comments about my experience with the rear suspension on the Tallboy with a grain of salt. For reference, I'm finding that the Pike feels correct for me and my riding style at about 87psi with H/L comp in the...

5/19/2026 12:13pm Yeahh. Sorry, not sorry haha. This is honestly my preferred seat wu, and I pedal quite a lot. This version of the Silverado is actually quite nice and it doesn't feel like it's as nose up as it looks. Like anything else, it's all about what you're used to. If a saddle has more forward tilt to it, I feel like I have too much pressure in my hands while seated. And having C5-7 disc degradation as badly as I do, it helps keep my pelvis rotated back in such a way to alleviate hand numbness that I tend to...

5/19/2026 9:16am Hey Matt, I rode and wrote about the Tallboy HERE. After only having two days on the bike now, my suspicion is that it's not really going to play that nicely with coil shocks. Ie: the beginning and ending lev ratio, combined with the amount of shock stroke won't offer the support a coil spring requires, nor the distance needed...

ride Added a reply to Tweener: make a small bike big, or a big bike small
2/18/2026 8:20am This is an awesome topic! Approaching this from a generalized perspective, things to consider are where you live, style of trails you ride mostly, and what travel category bike you're referring to. I think on one hand longer travel bikes are easier to make a larger size feel smaller in the cockpit/rider area due to more sag and travel. But...
