Guess I don't quite understand the hesitancy to use back and chest protection on a track like this. Is it for comfort? Is it because of machismo? Both? Does a back protector make them slower? Seems like a piece of cardboard would be uncomfortable too...

8/18/2015 3:49pm You should have kept watching because it was all so wild, especially the dude attempting the superman off that last step down. I'm not sure how the intense steepness along with the drastic landscape didn't make it seem impressive but I thought it was very intense... my hands are still sweaty. At every event riders are open to serious injuries (even in DH- Francois Gachet if you have the stomach for it) and there will always be fans who will see it as unnecessary risk because of how gnarly it is. shame...I'd also do it but the lip at my local train gap is a little funky at the moment. Plus I need to get some titanium bolts for my stem. And my ankle hurts from my last suicide no hander triple backflip attempt.

My punk-rock heart loves seeing this guy shred past all the funky clowns in their DH suits and $6K 10-inch travel bikes. Prob ripping harder than most of them. Of course...he probably felt like an 80-year-old after three or four runs down the hill...and needed a new bike halfway through the filming of this edit. But whatever....

saw a redflag here last year during tracey hannah's run. I remember mainly because she got kinda bent out of shape. ; ) I thought they were only for really bad stuff and shouldn't be temporary by definition. Odd to see another one here.
