Still mentioning winning PMB as a good end of a career? =( I wonder if he would actually do it? He has mentioned not necessarily wanting to retire but not being very motivated to do much else if he did win.

I doubt they would mount start and stop buttons. The central unit probably has a ton of storage space internally on an sd card and the data is likely a form of text which compresses well so they can afford to have it be always on collecting data. A simple battery switch or unplug the battery works. I would guess those buttons are for marking like/thumbs up and dislike/thumbs down data points while riding along. Such a fun course for riding and spectating. Racing through Yard Sale to screams of "East Coast Rider Up" was so awesome. The one year, 2001? where we had the riders left line that was extra super sketch for this year or the long go around to riders right. We practiced the hell out of the sketch line all weekend and just as we are in the start gate for Expert Category we start hearing rumors they are taking out the riders left option.
