Genius 940 converted to ST (Super Trail) version with burlier shock and fork.

Built with a focus on durability rather than on weight.

Super capable bike with a progressive geometry, I used it as a "do it all" bike (Trail-Enduro-occasionally Bike Park).

The 170mm Z1 fork has an "axle to crown" length of 577mm comparable to most of 160mm forks. So the  geometry is unchanged.

*Riding ready weight (with pedals and empty Fidlock water bottle).

Hi Seebema,

So far so good with the Genius, easy cable routing, stiff and strong frame. Pedalling position is extremely comfortable. Good fun on the descent, it is crazy capable for a 150mm trail bike, plus it has a clear addiction for speed. It seems that I found the “do-it all” small enduro bike I was looking for.

On the drawbacks, really minor things for the moment : 

- Some bearings are already worn out after 6 months of abuse and several days in wet conditions.

- Hard to guess shock compatibility with this frame + blind shock assembly is not so handy.

- Tyre clerance on the rear could be problematic with 2.5-2.6 tyres (not my case).

- Shock cover lost (x1) + cover mechanism needs to be disassemble and cleaned to keep working.

Yes, you could squeeze a coil in there. Most of the coil shocks will have the rebound knob located too deep inside the frame to allow any access on the trails. You will have to disassemble the shock from the frame if you want to fine tune your rebound set up. That's why I am running a 2018 Fox DHX2 with all adjustments located at the bottom of the shock and easily accessible. I spent only one day on the coil with a slightly too soft spring, so I can’t yet conclude clearly about coil benefits on this bike. I will keep you updated soon.

Hey,

Your bike looks amazing. Love the durable and sturdy "do it all" build.

Is the coil working well with the Genius frame? Looking to turn mine into an ST too. Not sure if a Bomber CR w/Progressive Valt spring would serve me well (might also try a smashpot fox36 up front for fun). Is there a lot more bob when climbing than with the airshock? The 940 is such a good/fun climber with the twinloc. I just feel like somehting is missing on the way down.

Salut,

Oui l'amortisseur est spécifique à Scott si tu souhaites avoir le blocage depuis le guidon avec la technologie Twinloc.

L'amortisseur Fox développé pour Scott a aussi la valve de gonflage qui est placé dans un endroit plus accessible.

L'amortisseur installé provient d'un autre Genius, je ne pense pas qu'il soit possible de le commander via Fox.

Mais beaucoup d'amortisseurs standards en Trunion 185x55 sont compatibles avec ce cadre.

Voici une liste des amortisseurs compatibles (basé sur ce que mes connaissances utilisent):

- Fox Float X2 2024 / DHX 2024 / DHX2 2020 (le levier de blocage touche le capot en plastique)

- Marzocchi Bomber CR Coil (la molette de rebond est inaccessible, il faut démonter l'amortisseur pour le régler)

- Ohlins TTX22 m.2

- RS SuperDeluxe Air 23 (la valve est inaccessible et demande de démonter l'amortisseur pour le gonfler)
