KavuRider Added a reply to E-bikes make you f*tter? Training with an eMTB
10/30/2025 1:17pm Fair enough. I'm sure if someone is dedicated and using it as a recovery tool, sure - but they are probably already fit. Or as someone else mentioned, if you are injured and rehabbing - then yeah, its probably better than nothing. Anecdotally, the riders I know who now ride their ebikes almost exclusively have definitely lost fitness. Those same...

KavuRider Added a reply to E-bikes make you f*tter? Training with an eMTB
10/30/2025 12:49pm Interesting. I have a Shimano motor in my Tazer, I don't have any issues with super steep climbs. Just requires a very different style - I liken it to how I would go easy throttle on a 4x4, just let the bike crawl up the trail. If you go into it full boost, sitting down, trying to blast up, then...

10/22/2025 4:04pm Wow, amazing looking bike!

10/21/2025 12:19pm I was just speaking to more of what Rampage has become. When I see a rider post something like this, it makes me think they feel pressured on that second run to pull something big out: But I don't know these guys and I don't know what goes through their heads, so I could be way off like you said.

10/21/2025 10:34am Because there is the potential to make money. Rampage is not geared towards people on this message board. It is aimed at the crowd who watch the viral Tik Tok/Insta hits, don't really understand mountain biking, and just want to see the spectacle of these guys throwing themselves off cliffs. The whole event made me nervous, like it does every...

10/20/2025 8:43am I actually yelled at my TV (I don't ever do that) when he went for the double, you could clearly see he wasn't going to make it. That was rough to watch and I'm actually a little surprised the other competitors still wanted to drop in after that.

10/17/2025 12:54pm I gotta say, those ladies were sure killing it. Robin's run was incredible (and she did it again on her victory lap!), Cami's chute was crazy (and to do that twice!). Great runs by everyone, they all looked calculated and controlled. El Presidente drop is still insane.

10/15/2025 10:46am is it just the repetition of the venue/event and over-saturation of insta reels and vlogs? <---now that you mention it...that is probably it! It all feels like it is blending together. I have barely looked at any of it. Guess that is on me!

10/15/2025 10:05am I am surprised, with Rampage happening tomorrow, there isn't more hype. Or maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Just feels a bit more muted this year.
KavuRider Added a reply to Honest question for e-bike buyers: What's your long term ownership strategy when you buy an e-bike?
10/14/2025 10:13am I bought a used beat to shit Tazer for $2k. New bearings, swapped the DVO fork for a Z1 Coil. I think it had like 3K on the odometer. Still running somehow. If it dies, I doubt I will replace it unless something comes along for around the same price point. I buy used older stuff, so resale never crosses...

9/23/2025 11:14am I think (correct me if I'm wrong, those who know more) that this event is held on private land, not public land, so they can't really protest it. If it were to expand to public/BLM land, I think there would be more pushback.

9/19/2025 1:47pm Maybe this is the result of too many concussions, but I seem to remember some overlap with Where The Trail Ends in regard to scoping the Gobi desert as a possible alternate location - the idea being to maybe shift it around the globe to different zones to keep it fresh. But I think the logistics were almost impossible and...

9/19/2025 8:35am I completely agree with you. Now that they have some big TV money behind it, it is more for the spectacle - I have non-riding friends and family sending me videos of some of the craziest features now. Unfortunately, I think it will continue until something bad happens and then they will end it.
KavuRider Added a reply to 2025 Red Bull Rampage
9/18/2025 10:29am I agree, but I think the problem is, there really aren't any other areas where they can hold this event. They have tried, but the topography and the soil are so unique to this area. Also, I would rather they not start carving up more and more of that environment for Rampage. Keeping it confined to these zones is probably...

8/1/2025 8:55am I love this thread, thank you to everyone who is contributing, it is a great read! I do want to say that I think I will always have a soft spot for Intense, I hope that they can turn this new gearbox bike into something. I have a Tazer ebike and I actually really like - its not the latest...

1/8/2025 2:22pm They've been doing the GORP program for a while, and they've had some cycling-related startups come through it. Natural State Carbon Repair (name says it all) is in current cohort I believe. My favorite is Gnargo Cargo Bikes, which are just awesome. They upcycle old bike frames into sweet cargo e-bikes.

1/8/2025 2:22pm That is a lot of extra money to spend for a bike while being here in the States. I'd love one of their bikes. Could you have gotten a bike bag, bought a used crappy Walmart mountain bike, traveled to Wales, dump the bike, picked up the new Atherton? Basically making it a trip to Wales for a few days riding at Dyfi to make it a two for one trip? Might have saved money. That was my plan if I bought one of those. You would have paid for it beforehand, didn't have to ship it because you are...

1/8/2025 2:22pm That used to be a common thing to do if you were close to the Canada/US border - drive south, buy a bike, ride it for a week, drive it back across the border. Easy peasy. CBS only seemed to care about alcohol and fresh veg/fruit. Not worth it these days with the CAD $ trading so poorly against USD.
