for those of you super sleuths waiting for the hammers to drop at midnight on instagram, if you so desire, you can embed instagram posts here. (instead of just links - so we can see the whole insta post w/o having to jump back and forth). just copy the insta URL and use the video icon above (play button) and paste the URL there. if it's a reel, you can grab the "embed" code and slap it in the embed zone. insta links or screenshots only are totally fine too, just passing along the info. can't wait to see what...

Jonathon Simonetti Added a new Feature 2023 Yeti SB140 LR Review

The 2023 SB140 is the mountain bike most people will turn to when shopping for a luxury-priced, carbon trail bike from Yeti Cycles. Not a new 27.5-inch-wheeled SB140 that we've come to know, this new...

Similar to picking an enduro bike over a downhill rig for a day at the bikepark to make things a little more exciting, the new, 2023 Yeti SB120 can provide that same feeling for local trails. More...

Gwin comment, unrelated to tech: predicting a World Cup or World Champs win from Gwin this season. Had a few years in the dark place (probably because he rode Kenda tires) but he started to get his speed back in '22 and was consistently a podium threat again. Shades of 2010 or 2013, which both foreshadowed good things.

I’ve enjoyed the more progressive bikes I’ve owned over the years. I think not hitting the bottom out bumper is always nice and having a bike that is easy to generate speed on makes for a very fun ride too. Where I think highly progressive bikes can suffer is in high frequency chatter if the leverage curve is too steep. The rear end tends to feel unsettled in those situations and it takes a lot of strength to hold a line. I have had equally as terrible of experiences with overly linear bikes where I am constantly bottoming or blowing...

All three articles have been glowingly positive about the suspension on these new Yeti's, but interestingly all three have pretty low overall frame progression- 14% for this guy, 17% for the 160, and I think 11% for the 120. Wondering if Vital's tester has had any bad experiences with more progressive designs or if there's something else going on to make these fairly linear bikes feel like magic to the tester. I'm curious because I'm a similar height and weight to the Jonny and I've been pretty underwhelmed by a lot of the more linear bikes I've ridden- feeling like...

Is it expensive? Yes. Does it check just about every box for someone living close to a feature-packed urban trail system (i.e. Bentonville, Knoxville, Boise….)? Also yes. Not too conservative, not too aggressive. Jumps and corners well. Makes a lot of sense for a lot of people who just want to have fun on their home trails.

why is it up to vital to apply price pressure? we're not yeti's customer, and they're not ours (they do not advertise). let their bikes sit on the floor and collect dust if they don't sell b/c of the outrageous prices. if there are riders willing to part with TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for a mountain bike, that's up to them. there are people who have that kind of money and choose to spend it, so we're not going to say a bike sucks on the trail or shouldn't be considered just because of the cost or inflated price-to-component spec. like...
