Crossworx Dash 290:
I live in South Australia but had been dreaming about something a little more exotic that was on offer in the usual places when it came time for new bike day..
This beautiful rig is hand welded in Thuringia, Germany. The frame was imported locally by EightyOneSpices, Willunga - South Australia.
I consider this enduro frame an excellent all-round performer. The unique suspension platform is supported by a Formula Mod shock with a coil that feels floaty and bottomless. The Dash 290 prefers to be pointed downhill where it just excels. It feels planted and tracks smoothly. I chose the XL (over a L) as I was seeking more of a DH experience out of this bike with my height of 187cm.
The steep seat tube angle of 79 degrees puts the rider in a comfortable “front of bike” weighted position that makes climbing more efficient and gives an illusion that the bike is smaller than it is. Many long all-mountain hours have been spent hauling uphill just to get the magic of the downhill thanks to the clever geo incorporated into this bike.
Formula Cura 4’s really don’t need an introduction. Tons of braking power. A sneaky purple anodised machined lever by RG Tec Bike Components from Italy add some colour to the cockpit and are interchangeable with Formula’s standard lever.
Ingrid cranks were a dead set match for this frame. Couldn’t stop there with their corresponding chain ring and cassette.
Carbon wheels by Syntace for flack-proof rolling support.
SQLab for ultimate saddle comfort, grips (with a touch of yellow to contrast the purple highlights) and carbon riser bars with a 12 degree back sweep.
Syntace NumberNine pedals with titanium axel / bearings for that plush smooth feel and contact to boot support.
..I could go on!
