I love centerlock for travel. So much quicker to remove and install for packing a bike.

LB wasn’t a new bike. It was the same frame with less material...geo is still outdated. The shock has 205x65 engraved on it, and the comment about the 29er fork to keep the bb up, points towards a 29er frame. Would be cool to see a new revolt or undead, this isn’t it...

Got caught in the rain during a ride a few weeks ago and had plenty of clearance for mud build up on my Rune V3. That was with a 2.35 E*Thirteen tire and plenty of sand sticking to the mud. Love the bike, and the only thing I would like to see is an additional drop out option for an even longer CS, say maybe 445-447mm.

What isn't very clear in any of these images I realize is that there is a huge space in front of the bottom bracket for any mud or water to fall out... much like on the Legend. I've been riding versions for nearly three years in Scotland... Trust me, mud is not my friend, but not had any issue with it.

Ouch, the geo hasn't changed much if you size down. This shock location offers superior performance... (Trust me I would not have released it if it didn't!) in a stronger package with lower center of gravity, there really is no area where the performance does not improve. If your reasoning is purely due to aesthetic reasons liking horizontal shock, then fair enough, that will always come down to personal preference... but these bikes look so much better in real life than in photos. I'd appreciate it if wait until you have read some reviews and had a test ride before...

While I do think you're probably right about that, I've found that pedal kickback is generally most noticeable at slow speeds in low gears. On very high anti-squat bikes (e.g. my Intense Recluse), I mostly feel the kickback when trying pedal over chunky rocks or roots. I do feel it when pedaling in higher gears as well, but it's not nearly as bad and I don't often try to pedal through thick chunk when I'm at the top end of my cassette anyway. When coasting, the freehub is not engaged and I don't really feel any kickback. It seems to...

These high pivot bikes tend of have very high anti-rise often upwards of 120%. According to Forbidden's website, the Druid is right around that number too. How did the bike feel under braking? Could you feel the rear end squatting into the travel a bit? Did the suspension firm up at all?

I had my first one built with a 150mm MRP Stage and it had a an offset 10mm less than fox/sram so it rode about the same with a 40mm stem as this does I feel. I feel like the tune on the V1 with the monarch was better than what this comes with from fox even though I feel like this shock is better across the board than the sram offering. I can see how some might say this is more park bike the way its set up from the factory, but this suits the way I ride. its...

dlxah Added a comment about product review Heavy Duty Carbon

7/28/2017 11:22am
Yeah, that's a good point. I forgot about that. Although I believe they only stock a subset of the rims they offer, so depending on which custom options you choose, that may or may not be an option.

As the banter increases around 29-inch wheels in downhill, we've decided to throw it back to 26-inch days and offer up a very long-term review of Light Bicycle's Heavy Duty Carbon rims designed for downhill and enduro use. With key players like ENVE, Industry Nine, e*thirteen, SRAM, Reynolds and others holding the majority of the carbon wheel market, Light Bicycle has been building steam over the years by creating a price point rim they claim performs like the big names at the fraction of the price. At just $181 per rim, we decided to purchase and abuse a set of...

It really depends on what you're looking for. Obviously there's the price to consider. Carbon rims can be stiffer, lighter, and wider, but it's generally going to cost you a lot more. Aluminum can offer other advantages as well, though. For one, alloy rims are more likely to bend instead of crack if they get damaged, and you can often bend them back into shape and/or re-true them and keep riding unlike with a cracked carbon rim. Plus the Stan's rims are much more readily available if you do manage to completely destroy one. You'd probably have to wait at...

Except tall guys won races just fine on 26". So any wheelsize above that should be looked at for who it excludes from competitiveness, not who it makes faster. If 29" makes Payet faster, but makes it harder for guys under 5'8" to compete, it shouldn't be allowed. because there's a lot more Troy Brosnans than Payets.

dlxah Added a comment about product review Pike - 2018

4/13/2017 1:33pm
150g? According to Rockshox's website the old 650b Pike was 1861g and the new 650b Pike is 1841g. That's only 20g lighter. The only thing I can think of is maybe that's because the old version is non-boost and the new version is boost? But even the 29" version of the old Pike is only 15g heavier, so I can't really imagine how the old boost version would be 130g heavier. Edit: Found my answer in another article. Rockshox is claiming a 150g weight reduction from the boost version of the original Pike, so presumably the old boost version must...
