As a fellow wheelie devotee, I applaud a record on a "real bike" rather than the effective unicycles (fixies and such) I have seen in the past. Braking takes effort along with the other balance aspects and it makes for a true wheelie record. Nice work!

After thinking a little more about it, if this thing actually works as advertized, then i will absolutely buy this even on my own. As long as this gives me data sheets along with the idiot proof instructions, i am torqued on this idea.

I might try to go in on this with some riding buddies. Its a lot though for a 1 use per bike sort of thing but would be worth it if you tuned you and your friends' bikes.

I think this is a bad-ass option for those of us that prefer to tune our own equipment.

It decreases force (in trail and climb modes only) from around 4ips to 10ips (medium speed hit) then the curve starts to turn up again as speeds increase and orifice damping takes over (the valve is fully open and the holes are the restriction). It is fairly speed sensitive, so on an fast hit (50ips) peak, it reacts differently than on a medium speed hit (25ips) vs on a low speed hit (10ips). The curve kind of stretches out with increasing speeds.

They are a little similar, but Re:aktiv valve actually decreases in force as velocities increase (for a while). The damper curves that propedal makes are very different from the ones that Re:aktiv makes. The valves are also very different inside...

Not exactly- small bump doesn't always mean small velocity. The shock velocity is more dependent on shape of the bump- even a small rock or tree root generates a medium/high shock velocity. The low speed inputs are all rider generated- pedaling, pumping, weight shifts etc. The goal of the damper curve is to resist movement due to rider inputs, while still being sensitive to terrain.

Yes- the biggest advantage is that the shock pedals efficiently while still moving when you need it to- hitting bumps, preloading for bunny hop etc.

So, this is intended to reduce motion at the shock from common, seated pedaling forces? Assuming that and based on your velocity comment, I am guessing that the shock will still respond (compress) from rapid preload by a standing rider performing a bunny hop? I like that idea since I prefer to use my suspension for some hops up ledges. I am excited to demo one of these. I hope this shock finds its way onto the Remedy 27.5 because I want to stick with 140mm travel for my next bike.

Conversely, for those with big hoops, this is a great alternative the 29er-less Rock Razor. I can't complain about another tire option either, especially for the rear since I seem to swap those more than the front.

In 2012, Specialized dealers sold 7 29ers for every 26" bike they moved. That's why even in 2013 most of the 26 models were thinned way down in the lineup.

Shimano brakes FTW!

All you guys thinking the from triangle might be a carry over from the 29 might be right from these pics and geo and dimensions are still not up on Specialized's website, but if you look at the 650 Evo frame only page, the pics look proper. See: http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/mountain/stumpjumper-fsr/stumpju… Also, Vital's got WAY better info and coverage than over at Pinkbike.

Looking at the 26" I'm guessing 430mm rear centre. They seem to thankfully be moving away from short as possible to more optimum length rear centres these days.
