i'm sure for some people it would be a welcome choice. i'm just disappointed that right now the new derailleur only has one cassette option. if chain retention is really as good as they say, i hope they make other cassette options available in the future, or maybe move that derailleur technology to a ten-speed option.

i'm interested in this new derailleur design. i think that could really have some great potential, if it works as they say. but i think the 42-tooth cog is overkill for most trails.even in XC racing i can't see myself using a gear that low very often. i'd be more inclined to give this group a try if sram offered the cassette in a more reasonable range.
