👋🏼 Recently posted about running T-type cranks with the mech X01 eagle..now I’m looking to replace my cassette and the Garbaruk looks interesting - between the weight, ratios and price point..are these any good? Thinking of either trying this, or go with an XX1.
Anyone running these or have experience?
In my experience they are solid, had no problems
I have one for an XD driver, 12 speed. It’s pretty good- the shifting isn’t quite as quick as with a SRAM cassette and it will jump gears if you aggressively back pedal.
BUT- it’s extremely light, it has a replaceable big sprocket (ask to order it separately when you get one, I got two extra aluminum sprockets when I bought the cassette, assuming after three of those the cassette would probably be done.)
Just make sure you tighten it up after a couple rides- I’ve had two and both worked loose after a couple rides and were good once I tightened them back up.
I can’t speak to the cassette but the chainring I got from them was the softest I have ever had. It work out so fast I couldn’t believe it.
I was a little concerned about the shifting and the backpedaling issues I’ve read about. Not sure if a particular chain helps or anything, but I figured I’d bite the bullet. Just ordered one - thanks for the insight, I’ll keep an eye on tightening it
I have a 10-52 cassette paired with Race Face cinch chainring, SLX derailleur and Shimano chain and it works flawless, no issues what so ever. I have several bikes so hard to say anything about wear, but it's two years old now and on it's third chain i think. Bought for weight loss and worth every penny.
Edit: I can add that i prefer the SLX shifter over the XT also. I'm not much for shifting 3-4 gears at a time.
Any point waiting for sales with them?
I'm a big fan! Have both a XD and Microspline version and only seen some more considerable wear after a few months on a SL ebike.
Never seen any discounts though.
I'm running one for almost three years (not that many vertical on this one though, so can't comment on the durability) with a full Eagle drivetrain otherwise. What others have already told holds true. It doesn't shift as fast as an original Sram one, it really likes to be shifted one gear at a time, otherwise you'll lose the meshing and drop the chain to the bottom of the cassette. Other than that, it works. It's light. And it is the only cassette with the sensible 32 37 44 52 sequence of gears without any weird jumps.
