So usually, I just lurk these types of threads and make notes for "businessing"; you know, like what people are looking for, what they like and don't, but I saw this and had quite a good chuckle.

This is our shoe from the year 2000. Roughly 16? years before the ELC and I'm not sure (14?) how many before the OG Element. Sure its 20 years of fading, but man is that cut similar. Sure there's no lace saver on this shoe, but come on' it was the year 2000!

2000

On a more current note... These (We ran the v1 prototypes of these without the laces in for almost a year)

BlackandTurqEnduro

Also, if you ever see BOA on our shoes, they paid us so much money, and we sold the fuck out. Fuck those things.

EDIT: We also have two shoes in the works with velcro, not counting the one above with the velcro lace saver.

I give you permission to post a link

@AmesEvan This! But they could loose the dazzle camo

The dazzle camo is what makes them. Bummed I never was able to snag a pair in the purple red black combo

I don't want to be the inappropriate link spam guy haha, but the first batches of 2023 Enduros & Sounds will hit the shores of NZ with Bike Life Supply, and we have some on the way to shops in Oregon, NC & Kansas, then we'll be restocking our website.

As a tiny company that owns our factory, COVID beat us up hard so we're finally on our way out of that mess.

That give us time to improve our manufacturing, redesign the internals of the MTB flat, and find more U.S. made parts. (We produce in the western hemisphere, with no Asian parts.)

Of course when things are ready you'll see press releases on Vital and else where!

My issue with systems like BOA or single-velcro shoes is that I like to be able to adjust tension across my foot.  I tend to experiment with lacing patterns, and for longer rides I like to have a looser toe-box than for pedal-and-plunge rides.

Velcro needs to be 3 straps, otherwise laces are my top pick.

I tend to have issues with BOA for all the reasons stated in OP, but also in longevity as the BOA wire cut through the parts of the shoe meant to hold it on.  Finally, the BOA shoes I had were made with some sort of plastic for the dial which I managed to crack in an unfortunate collision with a rock.  Shoes shouldn't crack

^^ This! I have narrow forefoot with a craaazy high instep. Flats I'm OK just running laces fairly loose (with thicker socks), but clips on MTB or road need each section of the shoe to be snugged separately or my circulation gets cut off.

I'm staunchly anti-velcro on any other bit of clothing, but love it for shoes.

I can't imagine using riding shoes with anything other than Boa.  I've been riding the Specialized 2FO clip-lite for almost 10 years and love the dual boa's on them. I'm on my 2nd pair and love the shoes so much, when I bought my 2nd pair, I bought 2 pairs just in case they discontinue them when I'm ready for a new pair.  My favorite thing about Boa is being able to tighten the shoes while riding without stopping or unclipping.  Typically after about 20-30 minutes of riding my feet "settle" into the shoes and I tighten each of the boa dials by 2-3 clicks while coasting on a flat section of trail.  I competed at a fairly high level in Track and Field and was always particular about my shoes' fit and tightness, maybe that plays into my affinity for the Boa system.

The first batch that's shipping were preorders, but I know we're working on a stock order now.

We should have our demo shoe fleet ready by the Spring Revival Jam at the Riveter too.

I don't ever wanna go back to any thing other than boa style mechanism-but I need someone to make a proper foot bed shoe (like an altra running shoe) for cycling-lake gets close.

Love you Stik... But had to downvote this. No comment on Boa, but buy a custom footbed if you need one. This way you will get exactly what you need fitted by a professional and you can rotate it shoe to shoe.
