I have a Devinci Spartan that I like but have a few things I dislike about it. I would like something like a Santa Cruz 5010, Evil Calling or Transition Scout, basically fun but also more on the trail side of the spectrum. Big question is if I get a newer bike that pedals better, is just a little less for the descents and keep my Spartan will it just collect dust? I have plenty of trails that justify a 160 mm travel bike, but we also have plenty of longer backcountry rides that a more pedal friendly bike would be great on. Or I could just get a newer generation enduro bike that pedals a little better.

Your other option would be to get something just a little less plow specific than the spartan. SB6, new bronson, new stumpy, bikes that can handle nearly everything, but still scrub up nicely for long days. I currently just change out tires when heading for 3 days of backcountry riding and it works fine...
