Project 321 Centerlock To 6-Bolt Adapter System: Project321 has come up with a pretty slick idea for solving the centerlock vs. 6-bolt conundrum - simply do both on the same hub shell thanks to this clever adapter idea. When the engineers took a hard look at the centerlock standard, they realized that there was a groove behind the splines that could be used to anchor a lightweight steel ring equipped with bolt hole masts. An alloy 6-bolt ring is then slid over the centerlock splines and over the masts protruding from the steel lock ring, and the whole system is then held in place by the rotor bolts. Very simple to use and quite an elegant design. It opens the door for less SKUs because you can adapt the same hub shell to either standard without having to stock every color twice, which is great for retailers and bike shops (and of course it also allows for plenty of fun and games with colors!) Will it fit other brand centerlock hubs as well? That is a question that will be answered in the future, when Project321 bring it to market, but either way, it's a smart idea and a cool execution.
