[Waterloo, WI] — Bontrager launched an upgrade to its footwear lineup today, releasing a new version of its popular Flatline Mountain Bike Shoe designed to give flat-pedal riders more confidence to handle harsh terrain on and off the bike.

The shoe’s new design enhances its durability, breathability, and toe protection with new strong, synthetic perforated upper materials and a reinforced toe box. It retains the previous version’s Vibram rubber outsole, keeping riders connected to the pedals and the trail.

My personal opinion is that people who don't run freeriders should ride Dagga pedals, and that should make up for it.

Not as sticky as Stealth rubber, so your feet will fly off, but look cool doing it.

Not as sticky as Stealth rubber but you can reposition your foot on the pedal without completely lifting it off... 2 years on my Flatline shoes so far..

I've been using them for the last almost two yest, almost daily commuting to work (13km one way) with regular pump track training and local park riding when family doesn't notice it. They are my first regular flat pedal shoes and I'm loving them but:
- I had to buy orthopedic insole because the original insole was a garbige. If all flat pedal shoes use flat insole then they are garbage. Before, I was always using Specialiez BodyGeometry clipless shoes nad I have NEVER had problems with my knees or ankles. With these shoes I was forced to buy new insoles to make them rideable for me.
- They are quite repelent to light rain, but very good (for me) in colder temps. They are possibly hot in summer, which is I dont mind.
- They fit my feet perfectly unlike many competition shoes because they have roomy front foot section apropriate for tall feet.
- BUT, the VIBRAM sole is little harder. I have developed long scars in my shoes after 2 years. If you suddenly upshift under torque, pedals can cick your shoes off. Abruptly. So, I'd say they are good for average Joe, the typical MTB rider, definetly not suitable for rough high-speed chatter DH tracks.

There are other things I love about these shoes, sorry for being lazy to write about them. But I think the future is in the waffle style sole (occasionally using Leat DB shoes).
