I keep trying to avoid this thread for what it's become but somehow the takes are getting even worse. First of all, in the way you are arguing, yes the tricks specifically don't matter that much. In the show aspect. But it's still a competition with scoring and win bonuses for sponsors. So that's why it's relevant. If they want to turn it into a non-scored exhibition that's totally fine and I think the exact same kind of people would go for the exact same type of riding. Also Norco has been using that configuration for several years now with the Fluid line up of bikes. People are surprised that Norco has done something original (gravity tune, and tweaking FSR to make ART) so they're pulling them down on the stupidest of criticisms. Oh and $2600 is pretty reasonable when other downhill frames in Canada hover around the 3g mark.

Oh please, you guys crack me up. OMG it looks like a Session! You have no effing clue what you're talking about basing your "opinions" solely on aesthetics. The suspension design is 100% different than a Trek, hence it's a different bike end of story. Engineers follow similar paths to get results, it doesn't mean that PJ or Owen were looking at a picture of a Session (or any other similar Kona, Trek, Titus, Turner, Specialized, or anything else in the history of MTB that's used this particular frame profile) when designing this bike.

2/3/2011 4:22pm Klokan, I see what you're saying but you might be looking in the wrong direction for what you want. Specialized did a few things with an engineer introducing the new bikes and it was incredibly informative. I'd prefer to learn about the new Devinci from Weagle or somebody at Devinci rather than Steve.

Education isn't a major part of it, a strong background in cycling is a bigger asset than education. Best mechanic I've ever met never went to school for it but grew up racing bikes.
