I tend to agree with Monarch, sure their sizing is a little extreme, but just like every other brand sizing is subjective and does not have to meet any standards. For example I know I'm a large in some frames, but to have the same/correct geometry I would need to purchase a medium in others. This is why manufacturers provide geometry charts! You can't just say "I'm 6'3 therefore I'll always be an XL". In fairness, I do think Mondraker takes this a little too far, and one thing the "Forward Geometry" concept doesn't take into account (at all) is...

Weight weenie action on a DH rig... about as pointless as alcohol free beer.

"While no bash guard may seem crazy, it'd be just fine on all but the rockiest DH courses." You're FIRED turman!

When a frame weight is given, it's assumed that the weight includes the rear shock. If the given weight does not include the shock, then it must be noted, or else the stat is misleading. This is especially important when the article is specifically about weight. Just sayin'.

`gotcha. I always find these "look at this light bike!" things really funny when it comes from a bike company. The only part that makes this bike different than what any weenie can build is the frame and shock. So lets compare weights of frame + shock: then you know what is the lightest bike you can build with whatever parts you want. That said: welcome to the end of race season vital fans.

You lost me at "steel rotor bolts," that's when I knew it wasn't serious. I think it's a cool build. I would install a chainguide for insurance. Foam Grip Failure isn't likely going to end a run, but wrapping your chain around that pretty Ohlins shock sure will. And speaking from experience, carbon saddle rails are not long for the world on a mountainbike, that's a weird spec. But she's got it where it counts: Good tires, good suspension, let 'er rip!

Imagine how light it would be if the chain was cut to length, ti bolts were used and it had an air fork. Some very odd weight adding oversights/compromises in this build and then no bashguard!

Ti rotor bolts that backed out constantly? You do realise that bolts staying in or backing out is a function of applied torque, design (the same for both scenarios in this case), and to a far smaller degree, material properties? There is absolutely nothing wrong with Ti bolts used to hold rotors on, the only potential problem is unskilled mechanics damaging the heads. A drop of loctite on each bolt can remove the need to use excessive torque to get them to stay put - and this is no different to a steel bolt. Meanwhile, this bike has plenty of...

Thanks for posting my video! It looks a lot better if you click HD, or better yet click download > original MP4 on vimeo. The top part is the steepest thing I've ridden, having ridden the old/original champery WC track this is more relentless... it's pretty scary, but thankfully it's a blast after that section and lots of fun.
