That's actually a different shock intended for another bike in the spesh line.. stroke and overall length make it pretty close and they have been working pretty favorably in the real world!!

Review by Brandon Turman // Photos by Shawn Spomer When Specialized launched the Enduro 29, they did so with a bang. It was clear from the get-go that it wasn't your typical wagon wheeler. Not only is it a 29er with 6.1-inches of travel, but at 16.9-inches the chainstays are surprisingly short - shorter, in fact, than many 26-inch wheeled bikes. Needless to say, we were super curious to know how a bike with big wheels, big travel, and a super short rear end would handle out on the trail. 300+ miles later, it's time to let you guys in...

In fact fast is a bit of an understatement, If you've ridden wagon wheels before you're acutely aware of their propensity for gathering speed, but the likelihood is that as soon as you encountered the need to change direction, quickly or otherwise, the frame that held them began to feel real big. Not so with Specialized's E29 - it's only 6mm longer than it's 26-inch-wheeled counterpart, and once you've overcome the novelty of looking down at a giant front tire, you'll likely forget that you're aboard a 29er at all. Even in the more affordable Comp version (which is not...

It's been hard for us to move them too - granted we've sold a few but s-works customers are few themselves. I genuinley don't think wheelsize has as much to do with sell-through on this particular bike as does price point and the simple fact that it's a different weapon than most 650 offerings. I do agree that in the >150mm catagory 27.5 will be more popular, but for those of us seeking an AM rig that can pull double duty as a trailbike (especially in flatter geographies), it's pretty hard to beat this thing. that said, in a perfect...

Specialized utilizes non-traditional shock mount to create a longer effective i2i measurement while maintaining ideal stroke length and driving this particular FSR design. long story short you couldn't get such a short rear end with suspension this good any other way. Sure it limits your dampening options but there are plenty of great choices now available. I picked up a monarch plus debonair and couldn't be happier with my setup
