sideshow Added a comment about feature What Should Replace UCI 4X?

9/22/2011 5:27pm
The void should remain unfilled so the UCI can't ruin something else with arbitrary rules. However, DS would be amazing because everyone would race it - provided it was not too insane i.e. DH'ers and XC'ers (yeah, why can't they both compete?) could still throw down without relative concern for the main show. But, in the end, I think less is more with this decision and it saves a lot of time and money. Because of this decision, new venue options may arise as well, who knows. Bummed for a lot of the racers who got stiffed on a career...

This is a little embarrassing, but thanks for finding that for me...it was a rough and wild night. Beige Wolf parties hard.

The new "amoeba" rim technology may have seemed like a good idea on paper, but in practice it is a lot less functional than anticipated.

sideshow Added a comment about video Champéry 2011 World Championships track

I've heard people say that sometimes videos "flatten" the track a little (akin to "the tv adds ten pounds")...somehow I don't think that happened here. That was steep, narrow and awesome.

sideshow Added a reply to Peaty DSQ?

That was dumb dumb dumb. Terrible reading of the rules. I know "rules are rules" but there are people making judgement calls on when and how to apply them, and that was not an instance in which it was necessary to DQ someone. He missed the apex of the corner, got hung up, and missed his pedals...punishment enough, no need...

sideshow Added a comment about news story Fabien Barel Announces Retirement from World Cup Racing

8/7/2011 2:52pm
Mr. P took the words right from my key board. If there is one man who is the epitome of a professional athlete, Fabien Barel is the man. His style and calculated aggression is second to none, and his presence will be missed, though I'm sure that he will still be involved in the sport in some way. Cheers to you Fabien, and well wishes for the future.
