sideshow Added a comment about feature Bike of the Month: Sideshow's Zerode Taniwha

Ok, a little googling goes a long way here, and I said it was nothing personal, that was from my end, not passing judgment. Not trying to bicker here, I gave you the answer I was comfortable with, I have not tallied the cost of this bike, being that it's piecemeal and the build took 7 months; the cost has been spread out. All I know is that in total it has probably exceeded my credit limit and I couldn't have bought this outright. http://www.zerodebikes.com/page/enduro/ http://www.zerodebikes.com/page/taniwha-pre-order/, download the PDF for pricing, there are multiple options. All of the other parts...

I prefer to look at how much money I saved: I built the wheels, $400. Brakes from CRC, $200. Local shop hookup on tires, $80. Found a deal on the seat online, $30. The gearbox, shifter, seat collar, and rear hub came with the frame too, so that was a nice bit of kit I didn't have to source! You pay to play when it comes to this sport, and the numbers for the other components are listed online if you'd like to crunch the numbers. I'm just not a fan of talking money, I find it a little tacky...

Smart detail! Heading down to the shop tomorrow to get a set. The vulnerability of the adjuster barrels was an immediate concern of mine with the grip shift. Glad someone (you) had a clever solution to for this!

Yes they are. They allow the line to make tighter turn as it normally exits straight trom the front of the shifter.

What's the story on those j-bend pieces coming off the shifter? Are those the V-Brake noodles from Jagwire, repurposed?

sideshow Added a reply to 2020 Worlds to Leogang

Awesome! Said no one... Maybe Aaron will finally shake the World Champ monkey off that year with a chainless run in which he also gets a flat, but still rides flat out. I'll concede this: If they cut a new track, IN THE WOODS, not in cow pasture with fireroad traverses, that race would be sick. The woods off to...

Two things: 1. Why is Ft Bill still here? 2. Why is Leogang still here? The former is a tired, beat up track with no lodging options, no cell service, and godawful wifi. The latter is a track riders do not like, and there are multiple better options, "just up the street"... I'll concede it's cool to see Le Bresse back and a new stop with Losinj. However, it seems very dumb to have a full month off between Rd 1 and Rd 2. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth they say, but what if it's visibly lame?

As heard from the B-Zone and in the pits: It's not so much that "fast and straight" is bad, it's that many tracks are being over-groomed and run down machine-built sections, instead of running more raw track designs. For example, Schladming had some big, fast straight sections, but then went into heinous tech sections (at speed); Leogang did not (in...
